Laura's "do not pay" list typically includes toothpaste and toothbrushes, though she says when they get down to quarters, it's still worth stocking up. "Last week, I was able to get two Colgate toothbrushes and two Colgate toothpastes for a grand total of $.50 because I had a $3-off-two coupon and there was an additional in-store rebate of $4 for purchasing two items. The breakdown afterward was $.25 each for toothbrushes and the toothpaste was free!" she explains.

>According to Laura, lip moisturizer isn't an item you can often find for free, but you can typically find it for much less than it retails for. "Most recently, I was able to nab a Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer With Sunscreen (usually $4 at this store) for $.23 cents after combining a coupon with an already-low sale price," she says.

If you love trying out new shampoos and conditioners, Laura says the best time to do so is when a new brand or line comes out, as that's when you'll typically find rebates and coupons. "Three weeks ago, I went to CVS and purchased Schwarzkopf Gliss Shampoo (priced at $7), used a $2-off printable coupon, and then submitted a Schwarzkopf Gliss mail-in rebate to receive $5 back, making it completely free!" she said.

Laura rarely pays for razors and, when she does, they cost mere pennies (there are even times when she makes money off of them). "I typically keep my eye on drugstore deals (many of which allow you to combine sales, rebates, and coupons). That said, I recently scored some Venus Simply 4ct packs for free (and even got an extra $0.22 back) at Walmart by using a paper coupon and then submitting one app rebate," she says.

Lotion can usually be found on the cheap or even free if you keep your eye out for coupons on your favorite brands, advises Laura. "I love Aveeno and recently scored it for free at Target when combining a sale with coupon. While you can't always get your lotion for free, you should always get it cheaper."

According to Laura, nail polish coupons aren't always available, but when they are (usually about once a month), you can score a free or at least very cheap (as in $.50) bottle. "As of late, I was able to score some Wet n Wild nail polish for $.24 because there was a printable coupon that I was able to stack with a Target CartWheel offer!" she says.

Bonus Beauty Saving Tip: If you have a go-to brand, whether among those categories mentioned here or others, Laura says flattery can go a long way. "Email or send letters to your favorite brands telling them how much you love their products and just ask if they'd be willing to send you any product or samples for free. Many brands will send you high-value or even free product coupons to keep you using their product," she advises.
