Jennifer's Vogue Interview Is Very Cool

We've already seen some highlights of the December issue of Vogue where Jennifer Aniston opened up about John, Brad and calls Angelina "very uncool" (which out of context sounds so lame). Now we have even more quotes and pictures of the actress looking stunning on the beaches of her home away from home, Cabo. The article is timed to promote her movie Marley and Me and as she has done in the past, the dog-lover poses with her adorable corgi-terrier mix, Norman. The article describes a woman who loves to be in love but doesn't need a man to make the happy ending a reality. She also has a lot to say about the men in her life and getting older. Here are more highlights:

On her outlook: "You basically watch my life . . . It happens in front of you. And I can protect it and try to control things only to a certain extent. I think what I'm doing now is letting go of the reins a little bit and saying, 'It is what it is.' But there is more to me than just a tabloid girl. This whole 'Poor lonely Jen' thing, this idea that I'm so unlucky in love? I actually feel I've been unbelievably lucky in love. Just because at this stage my life doesn't have the traditional framework to it—the husband and the two kids and the house in Connecticut—it's mine. It's my experience. And if you don't like the way it looks, then stop looking at it! Because I feel good. I don't feel like I'm supposed to be any further along or somewhere that I'm not. On Vince Vaughn: "I call Vince my defibrillator," she says with genuine affection. "He literally brought me back to life. My first gasp of air was a big laugh! It was great. I love him. He's a bull in a china shop. He was lovely and fun and perfect for the time we had together. And I needed that. And it sort of ran its course."
More on John Mayer: "But you know, it isn't designed. Love just shows up and you go, 'Oh, wow, this is going to be a hayride and a half.' . . . He had to put that out there that he broke up with me. And especially because it's me. It's not just some girl he's dating. I get it. We're human. But I feel seriously protective of him and us. Trust me, you'll never see that happen again from that man. And it doesn't take away from the fact that he is a wonderful guy. We care about each other. It's funny when you hit a place in a relationship and you both realize, We maybe need to do something else, but you still really, really love each other. It's painful. There was no malicious intent. I deeply, deeply care about him; we talk, we adore one another. And that's where it is."

She looks hot on the beach in her red dress, and Jennifer came to the interview ready to tackle the issues on everyone's minds — her relationship with John Mayer, how she really feels about comments Angelina has made, and whether or not she talks to Brad Pitt. On things Angelina has said in the past: "There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening. I felt those details were a little inappropriate to discuss. That stuff about how she couldn’t wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool."
On whether or not she's talked to Brad: "A few very kind hellos . . . and congratulations on your babies."
On her relationship with John: "People need to mind their own business! Did you ever think Claudia Schiffer and David Copperfield made sense? Love just shows up."

In March we got a peek at Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth at work on this Annie Leibovitz photoshoot, and now here's the gorgeous final product! The duo shot this spread for June Vogue, and judging from how much chemistry they have, it wasn't hard for these two to get back into their Sex and the City characters for the photos. In the issue, SJP discusses fashion, style, and one of the few things she and Carrie Bradshaw have in common. Here are highlights:

On how she is similar to Carrie: "We will both try anything. I will try anything for Carrie, and I will try anything for me. In real life I never dressed the way she dressed, nor would I. I grew up in a house of matching. You know, our hair ribbons matched our dress, and our pinafore matched our socks. You didn't clash colors. What I learned by being around Pat Field was there shouldn't be rules in fashion. Things shouldn't go together. And that's the thing that really changed in my own world and the way I choose to dress."
On being trendy: "Aren't we all supposed to be a little bit the victim of trends? I can look back at pictures of myself with the great assurance that I will be embarrassed by about 60 percent of them. This is the nature of fashion—admiring the wrong girl, you know, looking at the wrong picture, wishing you were somebody else. And that's the developmentally correct thing."
On Carrie's style: "I would wear anything as Carrie Bradshaw if I thought it would be good for the story. The bits and pieces, and the stuff people object to. And that's Carrie—hits and misses mean nothing to her."

Judging from her hat at the London premiere of the movie last night, SJP has more than a little of Carrie's style in her. Michelle Williams' Matilda Will Heal Her Heartbreak

Michelle Williams got girlie in this month's UK Vogue. The interview took place just a few weeks prior to Heath's death. Who would have ever known her words about heartbreak and being alone would have such a different meaning now. Even though it was just revealed that Heath's will was written prior to dating Michelle and having Matilda, his family has reassured the girls that they will be taken care of. In the lovely Vogue interview, Michelle is honest and humble. She's thankful for her career taking off and allowing that focus to distract her from heartbreak the year has brought her. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

On Matilda: "She's bigger than any heartbreak could ever be."
"I've only got room for two things — my work and Matilda — and everything else has to take third or eighth position."
"My life is so plain in a way, and baby-centric, I dress in that harried, hurried mum style. I wanted to look girlish, to play-act and tap dance."

Drew Showcases Her Serious Side for Vogue

Last week, we got a glimpse of Drew Barrymore's oddly photoshopped Vogue cover, but thankfully she's looking more like herself inside the magazine. Lately the birthday girl is all about Justin Long who she says makes her cheeks hurt from smiling, but she's got more than that going on. She dishes on her latest role in Grey Gardens, her upcoming projects, and her unorthodox family. Here are highlights:

On her role in Grey Gardens: "Something about learning you can live without everything changes you. All my life, I've been waiting and waiting to become a woman, but I always felt like a little girl. Edie did, too. But I think she might have been the thing that made me finally become a woman. I thought for sure it would be a relationship with another human being, a love. Drew Barrymore Works Hard Before Playtime

Drew Barrymore looks virtually unrecognizable on the March cover of Vogue. Seriously, talk about being dead in the eyes — and that stare is coming from one of the spunkiest actresses out there. I mean, her wax figure was unveiled in London this weekend, and it looks more alive than she does here. Anyway, hopefully the inside spread will show off more of the Drew we love, and at least her personality and tenacity shines through in the interview. She said:

"I think I had some mechanism in my head that said, 'If you don't pull it together for yourself, no one else will.'. . . That's coming from a person who had to try it all . . . and who still loves to have a good time . . . Now, with her new Calvin Klein ads and the movie 21 with Kevin Spacey about the MIT students who outsmarted Vegas, she's breaking out more than ever. On Orlando Bloom: "Orlando and I met when we were kids. Blue Crush hadn't come out. Lord of the Rings hadn't come out. ... He was the first big heartbreak. ... Penelope Cruz is on the cover of this month's Vogue, looking radiant in a Spanish-themed shoot acting out bull fighting and flamenco dancing scenes with her sister (and fashion collaborator) Monica and BFF Pedro Almodóvar. While she doesn't discuss her romance with Javier, Penelope does gush about Pedro and open up about a near death experience a few years back. Here's more:

On Pedro Almodovar: "I became completely obsessed with Pedro. Then he called me when I made my first movie, Jamón, Jamón. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was drying my hair in the bathroom, and somebody said, 'Almodóvar is calling.' I couldn't believe what I was hearing — I'd dreamed about that moment for so long . . ."
On her epiphany after an airplane emergency: "It was to do with daring. I thought, 'Have I, through insecurity, not said the things I meant to say, not done the things I meant to do? That was incredibly important to me, and it has changed my life."
On her childhood aspirations: "I was looked at as a Martian. To imagine the life that I have now — all the traveling, the opportunities — would have been impossible."

Jennifer's Not As Serious As Her Movie Roles

Jennifer Connelly looks gorgeous and glamorous on the December cover of Vogue. Something about all the photos of her is so intense and at the same time serene, but as expected she's not really one to crack a smile. In the article Jennifer talks about taking such dark roles, including her most recent one as a grieving mother in Reservation Road, and what ultimately turned her life around. Here's highlights:

On taking on sad roles: "I don't often play characters who are the happy-go-lucky girl next door. For the most part I have made dramas with women who are, you know, grieving." She laughs. "I think that has shaped people's perception of me. But I don't think that's necessarily a reflection of how I live my life. I don't think I'm a particularly sad person. I don't feel bereft or depressed. I don't think of myself as chilly. These are just parts that I find interesting."
On her looks contributing to the parts she gets: "Huh! Huh! I have no idea. I don't think of myself as someone who has such a strong physical appearance that it should push them one way or another. It makes me sort of mad to think that someone's coloring should define their personality. I mean, certainly, you look at someone like, again, Meryl Streep, you know that she can play anyone: Despite her fair coloring, you completely buy her no matter what she does. But maybe with me, a lesser talent, it is all about that." She laughs again. "You may be onto something."

Charlize Theron looks beautiful as Vogue's October cover girl where she manages to make cowboy hats and chaps look glamorous and sexy. Charlize has proven that she's much more than just another pretty face and in the article she talks about her frustrations with Hollywood's obsession with looks and exposure. Here are highlights:

"Doing press on North Country really pissed me off. 'Yet another transformation!' And I was like, I didn't do anything! I went into a mine and I got dirty. I was doing press in Rome, and I had to walk out of one interview. The journalist said, 'Another ugly role!' Then I heard Bill Maher make a joke about it on TV. 'You know what, Charlize? Seriously, like, we get it. Enough with the ugly roles.' I just went, It's so unfair. I understand what happened with becoming Aileen. But to try to put that on every other character I play? It's like I have to walk such a fine line because I don't want people to think I'm a one-trick pony."
"...but there's a sadness in that the longer you stay in this career, the harder it becomes to get people to sit in a theater and not focus on your looks. Maybe that's why I try to keep my private life so private and why I don't want to be an InTouch celebrity. It's why I don't have any patience for paparazzi. It's just not something that helps me at all."

Charlize makes a good point but like any actress, you have to deal with highs and lows, even if it means suffering through some backlash. Besides, she's been rewarded twice with Oscar nominations (and one win) so she must be doing something right.

Winona Learned Her Lesson - Lindsay Are You Listening?

Winona was channeling Carmen's Fashion Week hair from last year in the pages of this month's Vogue. Now that she's making movies again, the media is bringing back up that shoplifting scandal. We've learned that unlike today's starlets, Winona was embarrassed by her actions and learned a lesson. After her issue with painkillers she said, "No one (in my family) ever got angry with me. Concerned, yes, but not concerned with a drug problem or anything. Because after that night I pretty much didn't ever. … If you are ever arrested, you can't ever do that again." Hmmm, looks like Lindsay doesn't have the same set of standards as Winona who purposely left Hollywood for years so she wouldn't become a tabloid fixture. We hope the world welcomes her back since we'd love to see more creative hit films like Reality Bites, Edward Scissorhands and Heathers.

Scarlett & Natalie Together Bound to Make Many Men Happy

Scarlett is looking seriously shapely and sexy in the pages of April's Vogue. We already told you about the JT/Josh Harnett part of the interview, but now we've got more of the 50's inspired photos. Also in the interview Scarlett talks about another one of our favorite stars, Natalie Portman. The co-stars from The Other Boleyn Girl not only respect each other's on-set styles, but were partners in crime out on the town as well. Here's more:

"I first became involved because Natalie was doing it," Johansson said. She and Portman had never worked together before, and Johansson said that even before reading the novel or script, she leaped at the chance to make a film with the young actress whom she admired. "She's a wonderful actor, just a great scene partner," Johansson said. "I guess I had never really worked with a young woman my age. She's so professional. And she's not pretentious or anything, just a really nice girl. It also helped that she's from New York."

Portman was just as impressed by Johansson. "The thing about her is she's an amazing actress. You look at her and instantly believe you are in the place you are; she makes it immediately real," Portman said. "She's so supportive and giving and passionate about her work," she added. "We were allies and coconspirators," Portman explained. "It's so rare that we get to work with actresses our own ages. You can relate at a friend level: We're at the same places in our lives; we were able to talk about boyfriends and go out dancing."

Though they're both pretty tight lipped about their personal lives, we're sure the girls shared some juicy gossip we'd love to hear. We're definitely looking forward to seeing lots more of these two together - on and off the big screen.

Kirsten Can't Sell Vogue

Kirsten may be one of the highest paid actresses, making anywhere between $8-$10 million a picture, but that doesn't mean she sells well on the newsstand. Anna Wintour was evidently not happy with Kirsten's Marie Antoinette shots for the September Vogue and demanded it be re-done. It caused a little tiff between the editor and Dunst's publicist. Sources say megapublicist Stephen Huvane was badmouthing Wintour to "anyone who would listen" earlier this fall after wrestling with her over the September issue's portfolio of Kirsten Dunst. Wintour was dissatisfied with the initial images from the Annie Leibovitz shoot, which took place at Versailles and featured elaborate costumes from Marie Antoinette, and demanded it be redone—prompting Huvane to wonder aloud to several friends whether Wintour hasn't amassed too much clout.

In the end, he may have had a point: the cover was a flop on newsstands, selling far fewer copies than the September 2005 issue with Sarah Jessica Parker. "There was some back and forth, but we worked with [Huvane] and worked it out," says a Vogue spokesman. Huvane declined to comment. As for the September issue's low sales numbers, the Vogue rep says, "We knew going in that it wasn't going to be a commercial cover, but we were very pleased with it."

No Vogue rep would be happy with an issue that didn't sell well on newsstands - especially the coveted September issue which is huge in the fashion world. It doesn't look like it's hurting Kirsten's career at all if she's still one of the top paid actresses. For more pics just
