Michael J. Fox Tells Ryan Reynolds What Marriage Is All About

Ryan Reynolds stopped by The Rachel Ray Show today to talk about running the marathon for a cause so close to his heart. He didn't dish on Scarlett, but the newlywed looked fantastic and continued to charm with his personality. While on air, he was surprised by Michael J. Fox, who had some really sweet things to say about Ryan and some sage marriage advice to impart to his younger friend. Here are highlights:

Michael's marriage advice for Ryan: "Just remember this, if a man says something in the forest and his wife isn't there to hear him — he's still wrong!"
Michael on Ryan's support: "It means a lot and I'm humbled by you connecting your feelings for your father and your affection for him, and your desire to maybe make his life better and make life better for others in the situation. I'm humbled to even associate that with the work that we do."
Ryan on the marathon: "I see this Team Fox banner up ahead, and I look to my left and there I saw Michael. My dad, for I think fairly obvious reasons, couldn't be there at the marathon. I would have loved him to be there, but Michael really was a kind of surrogate for that for me, and to just high-five him and have that moment really carried me through. I mean, I said that I gained 15 pounds in goosebumps alone, and I just off I went and finished strong."

It sounds like Ryan and Michael have a lot of mutual respect and admiration for each other as they continue to work toward a cure for Parkinson's.

Mrs. and Mr. Ryan Reynolds hit the red carpet separately at the A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Cure Parkinson's benefit for the Michael J. Fox Foundation in NYC last night. While it may not have been the evening where Ryan and Scarlett finally posed together, they both looked fantastic out to support the cause. Ryan did have some photo partners, however, including the man of the night Michael J. Fox and his wife Tracy Pollan. Ryan ran the NYC Marathon last Sunday to benefit the foundation, which is close to his heart due to his father's Parkinson's diagnosis. As two of the big celebrity Obama supporters, Ryan and Scarlett have quite a few things to celebrate this week — now if only we could ever actually see them do it side by side.

Ryan Reynolds Runs the NYC Marathon Looking Foxy

Ryan Reynolds held a press conference at Tavern on the Green on Friday before running in the New York City Marathon yesterday. Ryan ran on behalf of the Michael J. Fox Foundation and in honor of his father who had Parkinson's for the past 15 years. The actor finished the race in 3 hours and 50 minutes and while we didn't catch a glimpse of his wife, Scarlett Johansson, she was expected to be there cheering him on. Seeing Michael J. Fox along the way was what helped Ryan complete the last 6 miles. Reynolds said, "[During the race] I thought a lot about my father and Michael and the 500,000 other people afflicted with this awful disease in the United States alone. I ran for those who can't."

It's sweet of Ryan to push himself physically for his family and such a good cause as he continues his activism he's so passionate about.

Apparently he and Scarlett Johansson were recently spotted having a lovers' quarrel in the city's financial district. It happens to the best of us, of course, but if there is trouble between these two I think we all know what album Scarlett will put on to express her feelings.

A sexy sweater-vest wearing Ryan Reynolds stopped by TRL yesterday along with his co-stars Abigail Breslin and Elizabeth Banks to promote Definitely, Maybe. The two ladies seem like pretty good substitute Valentine's Day dates since Scarlett was busy overseas. In this movie he gets to romance three gorgeous women, which was more exciting than his role across from Julia Roberts in Fireflies in the Garden. He said,

“I was so excited until I found out the scenes I have with her are when she’s playing my mother. I was like, 'Couldn't we have a hot romance instead?' It's so sad. I have to tell my friends that I'm getting to act with the old Julia Roberts."

We know Ryan has had a thing for older ladies in the past (cough Alanis cough) so we can understand his disappointment. Plus Ryan realized he may have sounded a bit harsh and he attempted to redeem himself afterwards by calling Julia a class act. Ryan Reynolds has been everywhere lately, and this is one celebrity overload we're not complaining about. He was looking pretty hot leaving the Waverly Inn yesterday in his leather jacket and red scarf — Valentine's Day manjoyment! He probably has something sweet planned to surprise his girl Scarlett over in Berlin, but he recently talked to Parade about his very first love. He said,

You have different loves before you settle down with that one person who really kind of rings your bell. It was Ariel, in high school. I was just head over heels for her. She gave me a smooch behind the dumpsters outside of shop class. Unfortunately, she smoked these herbal cigarettes so it was literally like kissing a bucket of dirt. It was awful.

We never pinned Ryan for a romantic, but getting a peek at his softer side confirms that Scarlett is one lucky lady. Even though he's taken, you can still check out his sweet romantic comedy, Definitely, Maybe. The film hits theaters today and Buzz is already singing its praises.

Lucky boy Ryan Reynolds got to meet up with all his leading ladies last night at the NYC premiere of Definitely, Maybe. Isla Fisher looked H-O-T in her LBD without her fiance by her side while Abigail Breslin showed off a cute little dress of her own. As for dates, Ryan's girl Scarlett is in town promoting her movie too but the two aren't quite ready to go red carpet public just yet. They're not headed toward marriage just yet and Ryan recently spoke about his movie's off-kilter subject matter. He said, "I really see it as a love letter to broken families. It's subject matter that hasn't been explored in this way before. Divorce is so pervasive. It's exciting to see it on the big screen in a way that is charming and accessible." Probably a more positive quote about divorce than usual, but I think this movie looks totally sweet — perfect post Valentine's Day romantic swoon-worthy flick.

The stars were scattered all over the map this weekend, between the Grammys and the BAFTAs, but yet another set of celebs headed to Germany for the 58th Berlinale International Film Festival. Meanwhile, I like scruffy Ryan Reynolds for sure, but this clean shaven version isn't too shabby in the manjoyment area, to say the least. Plus, how could you not love him when he's so sweet about his pint-sized costar's talents? He said about Abigail, "She’s incredible. I’m convinced she’s just Judi Dench in good makeup." Awwwwwww.
