Carrie and Brad Make the CMAs a Nashville Night to Remember

The red carpet was fun, but the real action happened on stage at last night's CMA Awards. Reese was out to present Brad Paisley the award for Male Vocalist of the Year while Nicole Kidman left Keith's side for a minute to give out a statue alongside her Australia costar Hugh Jackman. Keith didn't take home any statues but he did perform his new single to kick off the show alongside the hosts for the night, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. Kid Rock brought a new edge to the show taking the stage with Lil' Wayne on the guitar. Shania Twain looked simply stunning. Carrie, who showed off many gorgeous gowns, scored Female Vocalist of the Year, but the night's big winner was Kenny Chesney once again — see the full list of winners here. The 42nd CMA Awards kept things fun, youthful and interesting out to perform and celebrate another year in country music together.

Country Stars Win Medals Galore at BMI Country Awards

If tonight's CMA Awards are the main event, last night's BMI Country Awards were an excellent taste of what to expect. Stars of the genre gathered in Nashville last night to hand out some medals. Nicole and Keith traded off nights being honored and this time it was his turn. Miley Cyrus may not have walked home with a medal, but she did have a trophy on her arm — her man Justin Gaston. The night's big winner was Taylor Swift, who scored country song of the year for "Teardrops on My Guitar." Carrie Underwood decorated her dress with a medal as well, but hopefully got a good night's rest before the big event in a few hours.

The Sexy, Sultry Ladies Heat Up the VMA Red Carpet

The ladies hit the VMAs red carpet and managed to look cool under the blazing LA sun yesterday afternoon and we were there to get a peek at the action. Lindsay Lohan turned heads in her skintight black dress though I spotted her changed into pants and a sexy top when she made her way into the show with Samantha right behind. We didn't get to see Ashlee Simpson on the red carpet, but I did spot her sneaking in the side entrance to the show right after Pete — I will say that baby bump is huge and she is positively glowing. Bar Refaeli looked stunning though was happier to talk to us about her girls' vacation in St Tropez than when a reporter asked her about Leo's whereabouts. Nicky Hilton told us she was excited for the show after deciding last minute to come and wore an Open Ceremony dress while Taylor Swift is just the sweetest thing ever. She's so pretty, poised and polite.

Also on the red carpet were the ladies of The Hills — Lauren Conrad looked great mixing it up from her usual while Heidi was attached to Spencer even when they had to sip champagne waiting to be let in to the packed auditorium. Of course, Heidi and Spencer were happy to talk to the press and Britney was the topic on everyone's mind. They were excited for this to be the best VMAs ever starting with Britney's opening moment. The Miley Cyrus craziness hasn't slowed down just yet, the latest news being that her parents actually ducked out of the shoot before the photos in question were taken, and that Disney's plan for damage control is to keep Miley out of the limelight as much as possible for the next four to six months. She's already issued an apology for the photos, but it feels like the pop star has been a little too relaxed about keeping her image clean with incidents like talking about how much she loves Sex and the City and those somewhat racy photos in her bra that have been around the Internet. So we want to know — do you think Miley will learn her lesson after this latest scandal?
