University of Miami Meets Matt and the Obama Mamas

On Sunday Matt Damon vowed to give his all to Obama in the last days before the election, and he kept true to his word, stopping by the campaign headquarters in Hollywood, FL and then over to the University of Miami yesterday. The crowd, including Luciana and newborn Gia, looked more than happy to see Matt's big grin and he was kind enough to pose for photo ops — some with ladies sporting their expecting bellies. Matt isn't the only celebrity spending time down south — Elisabeth Hasselbeck is busy campaigning for Palin and the "sexist" wardrobe issue. These two are just a few of the many celebrities to endorse a candidate, but we'll have to wait until next week to see whose hard work pays off.

Alicia Silverstone looked mesmerized as Matt Damon took the stage to rally for Obama at VoteFest '08 in Miami Beach yesterday. Matt, Alicia, and Kerry Washington are touring multiple South Florida cities to promote early voting in the swing state. Matt said, "I took time off from acting until the end of the year to be with my family and enjoy our new daughter. But it is very important for me to do what I can to help the Obama campaign so people will go out and vote. We need change in this country and now is the time to be sure that happens." Matt may not be acting for a few more months, but he is not taking any time off from the various political matters he is so passionate about.

Matt Damon Gets ONEXONE in SF Before Moving to NYC

Last night Matt Damon brought Luciana up north to San Francisco to raise funds and awareness for the ONEXONE organization. Wyclef Jean continued to be his partner and this time the duo was joined by David Arquette. Before the gala the threesome passed out grapes at a SF food bank. Matt spoke passionately at the event as well as spent a graciously long time on the red carpet. He talked about his commitment to helping the Obama campaign in its final weeks even though Damon is headed to Morocco to shoot. He said, "I'm sure I'll be on the phone over there after filming every night. I'll do telephone interviews or whatever they'll have me do. I want to sprint to the finish with the millions of us who really have been desperate for this change." Matt also revealed that he and Luciana are moving their family from Miami to NYC soon. Last night's event has been on the calendar for a while so it's a good thing his beloved Red Sox didn't make it to the World Series or he might have had to reschedule.

Matt Damon Lands in LA With His Ladies

After getting dressed up for a wedding over the weekend, Matt and Luciana packed up their two girls and jetted to LA yesterday. Isabella showed off her hair clip and fun socks from the safety of Matt's arms, while Luciana kept baby Gia cozy under her blanket. Now that Matt's all set to star in another Bourne, it will be back to filming in Hollywood soon, but before that he'll be headed up to SF for a OneXOne dinner and if we're lucky a celebrity sighting.

Matt Damon went out to eat with Luciana, Isabella, and baby Gia — though we didn't get a peek at her — along with his extended family in Miami yesterday. The big group celebrated the family's participation in the Escape to Miami triathlon where Matt and his stepfather had legs of a relay team, while his brother did the whole thing. Matt's been trying to keep losing that weight he put on for The Informant, and when asked if he planned to add running to his exercise regime, he joked, "I don't think so. I knew I was in trouble when the old guy with the oxygen tank passed me." Sounds like Matt's being his usual modest self since we know he's already a jogger, but no matter how he gets there we're excited to see him buff again, especially if it's for another Bourne.

He was there as part of his commitment to the Global Water Challenge, which helps provide sanitary and clean drinking water to the world's poorest populations. The cause has been close to Matt's big heart for years and now his charity work is more important to him than ever. After his big day, hopefully he found somewhere to sit back, relax, loosen up his tie and watch the debate.

Wyclef has long been active in his home country, but he brought Matt along to attract attention to the region, which has been devastated after being hit by multiple storms this Summer. The charitable duo just left Toronto after the OneXOne gala, which benefited children's funds, so it seems as though Wyclef and Matt have a good thing going helping out together.

Matt Damon Cares About the Children More Than Ever

Matt Damon smiled right alongside the African Children's Choir at the OneXOne Gala in Toronto last night. Lat year Matt had Ben's big grin right there with him but this time Damon is rolling solo at the Toronto Film Festival. About the event and his commitment to it, Damon said, "At a certain point it becomes difficult to look at other children and not see your own. . . Something does change in you once you become a parent. . . There definitely is a shift there that makes you, I think, a little more obsessed about helping children. . . But it's not like before I had kids, I was like: 'to heck with those kids!"' I can't imagine Matt, who seems like the nicest guy in Hollywood, ever saying to heck with anyone, but it's clear that his newly expanded family of ladies have changed his already great big-hearted perspective for the better.

Baby-Faced Matt Damon Hits TIFF For OneXOne Gala

Matt Damon has been MIA for the past few weeks enjoying family time after the birth of new baby girl Gia, but he stepped back out on the red carpet this weekend to join in on the star-studded fun at the Toronto Film Festival. He's there to talk about a documentary he produced called The People Speak, but there's always a little time between events to sign autographs for the fans. Tonight he'll once again take on hosting duties at the OneXOne Gala, a fundraiser for domestic and global children's charities. Last year he had the help of his BFF Ben, and we can't wait to see who will rally behind Matt and his good cause this time around.

Jen and Ben headed south to Miami to join the Damons to speak at a fundraiser for Obama on Saturday night. The BFF foursome kept things simple in black and white but there was no hiding those glowing grins and growing bellies. People reports that Jennifer gave a "witty, clever and funny" speech followed by Ben and Matt's more serious ones. Garner also spoke about how inspirational Barack Obama is, while Matt was all about change. The trip was a quick one as Jen and Ben made their way home on Sunday back to Violet. On a side note, looks like Matt has lost all that additional weight he gained for The Informant. That took like two weeks. So not fair.

Ben and Matt Gamble for a Good Reason

Last year Matt Damon and Ben Affleck celebrated their holiday weekend with a BFF family trip to Hawaii, and this year they were back together for a different reason. The Boston boys showed off their skills, along with friends like Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle, at the 2nd annual Ante Up for Africa charity poker tournament in Las Vegas last night. From the looks of those big smiles, they didn't have a problem whether they were losing or winning, it was all for a good cause. We know that the crises overseas are so important to both Matt and Ben, but it's always nice to add a little bit of fun into dedicated philanthropy.

Ben & Jen Celebrate Their Third Anniversary and Everyday Life

It was a family weekend for Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in LA. The Garner-Afflecks enjoyed lunch on Saturday before the couple met up with BF Matt and pregnant Luciana for dinner at Nobu in Malibu where the foursome shared a toast to celebrate Ben and Jen's third anniversary on Sunday. Speaking of Mr. Damon, he's looking way better already — amazing what a little change of wardrobe and scenery can do. Fancy dinners with friends are always nice, but Ben also opened up about his time in the Congo and his family. He said:

On his trip to Congo: “It’s definitely changed me. It’s definitely been a part of… I guess a growing sense that I have a responsibility to do something with my life that’s other than just serving mileage in some way… You have a responsibility to your kid and also a responsibility to the world around you, so all that [is] part of the motivation for doing all this stuff.”
On life with Jen and Violet: “Things are pretty great. We’re very happy. Things couldn’t be better. We’re kind of taking it easy and just kind of enjoying a little downtime at home. I’m at a point now where even… vacation sort of feels a little bit like work. I’d rather just kind of chill and take it easy.”

This is a far cry in the hotness department from the last time we saw Matt on the islands — he's hard at work filming rather than getting back to those surf lessons from one year ago. That being said, we still appreciate a look at that beach body, even if it's not the toned one we're used to from him.

While he's not looking his best, at least Matt is still on the top of his game in terms of philanthropy — he just teamed up with Brad and George to use an ad campaign to help get more aid to Myanmar after the devastating effects of last month's cyclone.
