Kate Winslet looked gorgeous and sexy stripping down to nothing but thigh highs and heels with her messy blonde hair for the new Vanity Fair. Kate is promoting two December films, Revolutionary Road and The Reader — both of which are already getting Oscar buzz. In her interview she opens up about meeting her husband Sam Mendes, working with Leonardo DiCaprio again, and her weight issues. Here's more:

On her acting skills: "I know that in order to do my job as truthfully as I can—because to me that’s everything—you really have to not give a f**k [about what people think]. You have to be prepared to look stupid and you have to be prepared to walk around naked in front of a crew of people you’ve never met before and may never see again. And it is scary."
On her weight: "This is going to sound really weird, but I never had a desire to be famous. I never had huge ambitions—never.… I was fat. I didn’t know any fat famous actresses. I just did not see myself in that world at all, and I’m being very sincere. You know, once a fat kid, always a fat kid. Because you always think that you just look a little bit wrong or a little bit different from everyone else. And I still sort of have that. I often look at women who wear great jeans and high heels and nice little T-shirts wandering around the city and I think, I should make more of an effort. I should look like that. But then I think, 'They can’t be happy in those heels'."

She's been hard at work on The Reader with Ralph Fiennes, the role she took over after Nicole Kidman dropped out. Next up for Kate is voicing the character of Juliet in Gnomeo and Juliet, an updated and animated version of the Shakespeare story with a little twist — it's about garden gnomes. Um, if anyone can pull it off it's definitely Kate? Really though, we're all just sitting tight until the fall when we get to see her back on the big screen with Leo. Swoon.

Kate Steps Into Nicole's Shoes

Yesterday we told you that Nicole Kidman had dropped out of the upcoming movie The Reader due to her exciting pregnancy. The studio wasted no time filling the position, and Kate Winslet has stepped in to take her place. Apparently Kate was even the studio's first choice for the role, but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts with Revolutionary Road. The dates were rearranged so now Nicole gets a baby, Kate gets the part, and the studio gets their star — sounds like everybody wins.

Kate and Denzel Honored at BAFTA/Britannia Awards

Some of Hollywood's most well respected actors — from Julia to Helen to Jennifer Connelly — came out in LA last night for the 16th Annual BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards. Kate Winslet went from her casual LAX look to stunning on the red carpet to receive the Artist of the Year Award. Reese popped over from her Children's Defense Fund event in the same dress to pay homage to some of her colleagues. Denzel was also among the night's honorees receiving the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film. That's a mouthful. Kate Winslet Wants to Conquer the Mountain

Kate Winslet landed in LA yesterday with her huge purses and purple flats. It's been a while since we last saw her on the big screen in The Holiday, and next up we can't wait to see her reunited with Leonardo in Revolutionary Road. Kate, who was named Artist of the Year at last night's Britannia Awards (more on that later), chooses her projects carefully and she recently talked to Variety about the process she goes through picking her films. She said:

"There are so many emotions to play with when you're playing someone who's difficult and complex and emotionally strung out and confused. I'm drawn to challenge, really. I look up a mountain and I don't think, 'God, that's a nice view.' I think, 'I want to go up it, and I want to see it from the other side.' And as an actress, I guess I'm probably the same way."

Hearing how eager she is for a good challenge explains how Kate has earned herself so many Oscar nominations. We can't wait to see what she comes out with next, especially since it will involve Leo. I'm sure the Titanic fan in all of us is a little excited to see that one, right?

Kristin Davis took a break from filming SatC to be one of the few who wasn't wearing all black to the Hugo Boss event in NYC last night. Julianne Moore and Maggie Gyllenhaal looked beautiful in all black. Maggie's hair was my favorite part of her look with those great wavy curls. According to Bella's original poll, most of you will be thrilled to see that Julianne is a redhead again. The most surprising appearance of the evening was by Kate Winslet. The actress is not usually a part of the NY party scene so I was excited to see one of our favorite actresses looking fab in her LBD.

In the article, Kate talks about all the exciting projects she has going on right now, from working with Leo again, and her deal with L’Oréal, to having her husband direct her for the first time in Revolutionary Road. Despite it all, Kate remains insistent on one thing: that she is very much the normal girl-next-door. She said:

"I think I look normal, I really do, and that's the whole point. I want people to see that I'm the girl next-door - I'm just like everyone else - but with a great hair stylist, great make-up and a fab frock that has been made to fit, like that Valentino dress I wore last night, which was let out because it was minuscule. I feel very comfortable with the fact that it's putting on a persona, it's putting on a face, it's putting on your best effort when you go on a red carpet It's two hours and make-up. I don't wake up looking like that!"

While we somehow doubt that Kate wakes up looking anything but stunning, it's definitely refreshing to hear one of Hollywood's most beautiful A-listers speak so candidly. Kate has definitely proved herself to be one of the few movie stars who is also a great role model.

We were so excited to hear that Leo and Kate Winslet were reuniting since Titanic still holds a special place in our hearts. Even though these two have come a long way since then, Leo still has a lot of love for his co-star, saying,

"She's definitely an adult now. She's got children, she's married, she's very settled ... [and] I'm still exactly the same. It's great to catch up [with Kate]. Kate Walks a Revolutionary Road

Kate is busy on the set of her new film Revolutionary Road co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The film is based on the novel by Richard Yates. She and Leo will be playing a suburban couple struggling to stay together in Connecticut in the 50's. On a personal note, Kate has just split her settlement from a libel case between three charities to fight eating disorders. Back in March she was awarded an undisclosed sum after she sued a magazine for claiming she had visited a diet doctor. She obviously did the right thing by taking them to court and has been able to help others as a result. What a revolutionary idea!

Leonardo And Kate's Hearts Will Go On, Movie Style

Last time we were graced with Leo and Kate on the same screen, we were all (I mean, not me...but you know...some people) shamelessly bawling movie theater style as Rose promised Jack that she would never let him go. A short ten years later, we're finally going to get the reunion, not in sequel form, though. Both Leo and Kate have signed on to star in Revolution Road, based on the Yates novel of the same name.

Both Leo and Kate have come a long way since Titanic (heck, that blockbuster almost made Leo quit the biz), so I can't wait to see what these two always Academy Awards bridesmaids never Academy Awards brides will be like together again.

Until then, how cute were they at the 1998 Golden Globes? Leo looks like such a baby!

Kate Winslet looked fabulous as always (and a little like Madonna, or is that just me?) out with her two kids in New York last week. It's hard not to love Kate, who has always struck me as one of the most gracious and down-to-earth (as lame as that phrase is) celebrities around. This week the actress who has often publicly spoken about being proud of her womanly figure made another breakthrough for "real" women everywhere by winning her lawsuit against Grazia Magazine, which last year reported that she was dieting. She's even planning on giving the money from the lawsuit to an eating disorder charity. She just keeps getting better. Rock on, Kate!

BAFTA Stars Share Thoughts Over a Spot of Tea

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts held its traditional tea party at The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills on Sunday. Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Toni Collette and Emily Blunt were just some of the stars who came out to sip on tea and nosh some English favorites like fish and chips wrapped in newspaper and cucumber finger sandwiches. The party-goers were in good spirits and willing to chat. Here's highlights:

Kate Winslet called the many awards-season events "fantastic. I try and stay calm and keep my shoulders back."
Fantastic Four's Ioan Gruffudd was on the lookout for Winslet, with whom he (kind of) co-starred nearly a decade ago in Titanic. "I was the one with the flashlight pulling her onto the lifeboat as the ship went down," he recalled with a giggle.
Emily Blunt [who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The Devil Wears Prada] turned to her crooner beau, Michael Bublé, to quiet her jitters. "It's been my job to calm her down," said Bublé, as Blunt placed her hand on his shoulder.

Emily Blunt is barely recognizable without the red hair and brightly colored eye shadow she sported in The Devil Wears Prada. She has some stiff competition from Toni Collette, Abigail Breslin, and Jennifer Hudson but the one thing she does have over those three? She's British! Cate, Kate and Jessica Take Palm Springs Honors

Palm Springs sure makes everyone look stunning. The British Kate and Sienna looked amazing as well as the other Cate. As usual, Jessica Biel was all class showing off her sick and well rested body. She was there to receive the Rising Star Award. Another big winner of the night was Babel who took best ensemble performance and Director of the Year. Cate Blanchett won Career Achievement of the Year for her work in the film as well as Notes on a Scandal and The Good German. Brad may not have won an award on his own but Cate made sure to throw some attention his way. Here's more:

Blanchett on stage joked that she could barely speak English, prompting Pitt to play interpreter and feign sign language. He also lead the crowd of 1,800 (which included Morgan Freeman, Laurence Fishburne, Alan Arkin and Sissy Spacek) in singing Happy Birthday to their Japanese Babel co-star, Rinko Kikuchi. In honor of Kikuchi's 26th birthday, Blanchett playfully said she was pulling a Britney Spears — "not wearing any underwear this evening."

Tiffany was an event sponsor, and stars were greeted on the red carpet by a 5-foot version of the jeweler's signature blue gift box, wrapped in white ribbon. Kate Winslet (honored for acting achievement for her role in Little Children) Winslet said her "childlike brain" was hoping to see "a person leap out of the box and perform some fabulous tap dance." The gift box sparked "extreme excitement" from presenter Sienna Miller. "I'd like to be in that box with whatever else is in there," she said.

Sounds like a great night. Love the fact that Cate Blanchett is totally up to speed on Britney's missing underwear! Goes to show that A-List celebs don't take themselves too seriously. Kate Winslet is Disturbed By Skinny Chicks

We love that Kate loves her curves and promotes a healthy body image for ladies around the world. Not only is she acting like a fabulous role model for women, but for her own daughter as well. Here's more:

"It's so disturbing because young girls are impressionable from 11 up to 19 or 20 even. Women are very impressionable at those ages," Winslet told British Broadcasting Corp. television's "Sunday AM" program.

"They're trying to figure out who they are, and they want to be loved, and what I resent is that there is an image of perfection that is getting thinner and thinner, and it's truly upsetting to me."

The British actress said she refuses to allow any magazines featuring rake-thin models into her house for fear her daughter, Mia, will see them.

"It's only a matter of time before she becomes aware of it, and it frightens the life out of me," said Winslet, who is married to director Sam Mendes.

Winslet said she hoped her success will be an inspiration to others.

"I hope that in some small way I'm able to say, 'I'm a normal person, I'm doing all right.' I've got a lovely husband and children and I didn't lose weight to find those things, and those things are what should be important."

Half Nelson Tops Gotham Awards

The Gotham Awards sparked some controversy this year for allowing big studio backed films to compete with the low budget indies that the show usually recognizes. However, this did not keep the stars away and it looks like the indies still dominated the awards despite competition from The Departed. Half Nelson was the big winner of the night with best feature, breakthrough director and breakthrough actor (Go Ryan Gosling!). Babel also won for best ensemble cast. Everyone at this award show took things pretty seriously. Brittany Murphy seems to be the only one willing to play to the cameras. It's a good thing too because you know Sean Penn won't do it!

Kate's Challenge with Little Children

Kate stopped by Letterman last night to promote Holiday but it's her other movie, Little Children, that has created a lot of buzz. In the film she plays an emotionally detached suburban wife who has an affair with her neighbor, played by cutie Patrick Wilson. This movie has already received Oscar buzz and Kate has expressed how much she hated doing sex scenes in the film. Now she is also speaking out about how challenging the character was for her to play. Here's more:

SARAH IS definitely the hardest part I've ever had to play... The emotional journey the character Sarah goes on is epic -- epic for a woman. ... Sarah is isolated, depressed. She feels she lost herself through having a child and marrying the wrong man. She resents the child and has made terrible errors of judgment. The challenge was to embrace playing someone so weak."

Kate Winslet Then and Now

Kate Winslet has four Oscar nominations under her belt and is rumored to be getting another one come this spring. But things haven't always gone so smoothly for the actress. She recently opened up to Parade Magazine about fame, love and lots of things in between. She tells the magazine that during the filming of Sense and Sensibility, her boyfriend, television writer Stephen Tredre was diagnosed with cancer. They broke up before his death in 1997. Instead of celebrating with her co-stars at the Titanic premiere, she was attending Tredre's funeral. Here's highlights:

On Tredre's death she says:

“I was so young, when I look back on it. Only 19. How could I have left a person who was so unwell? I thought Stephen was going to be all right....It was unbelievably heartbreaking. All I have left is that we remained very close until the end.

On life after Titanic:

Looking back, I see what I was dealing with when Titanic came out. I had a lot of pain and I was confused about who I was….I didn’t know how to deal with it. I sensed that great life changes were impending. I had to hang on by the seat of my pants and not get drawn into public events and endless red carpets.”

On her life now with director Sam Mendes:

“I believe in fate. I know it sounds corny, but it was like Sam and I were from the same tribe. We were meant to meet: Both of us from Reading, both born in the same tiny hospital, Dellwood. Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman passed up the red carpet for a white toilet at the premiere of their new film Flushed Away. The two lent their voices to the animated flick about a society mouse (Jackman) that is accidentally flushed down the toilet. He ends up in Ratropolis where he hooks up with Rita, Winslet's character. The film opens this weekend. These two look like they are having a blast! Let's hope that they are the only thing about this film that goes down the toilet!
