Milk Does Some Cute Boys' Bodies Good in NYC

Milk arrived in NYC last night with all its handsome stars out for the red carpet. Details helped host the event and recent cover boy Chace Crawford got dressed up and his usually shaggy hair was perfectly coiffed to attend the screening. Downtown from his grad school in the Upper West Side, Columbia, James Franco let both his hair and facial hair look a little more unruly, but he can certainly pull it off. Another night, another event for Robert Buckley who's a favorite bachelor and a very familiar face these days. There are still a couple weeks before Milk hits theaters, but there couldn't be a better time for a movie with such an important message to speak on the big screen.

James Franco and Emile Hirsch were looking suave in their suits leaving the New York Times building in NYC yesterday after participating in a panel discussion about their film Milk. They probably have lots to say about their movie, especially considering its renewed relevance in the wake of the Proposition 8 controversy. From there, James was off to film a segment for The Late Show that airs on Friday. It's his second visit to the show since July, and even without his also hot costar by his side, James was probably his usual charming self.

Milk Heads Down California Coast

The boys of Milk, James Franco, Emile Hirsch, Sean Penn, and Josh Brolin, stepped out to premiere their movie in LA last night. They first walked the red carpet in SF before the election, but Prop. 8 is still a hot topic. Earlier this week, James talked about the close ties between the film and the proposition, saying, "Things [since the '70s] have changed, but with Prop 8, it shows that we are not all the way there. And if Harvey Milk was alive today, there is no doubt he would be fighting Prop 8 as hard as he could. It just shows that this movie isn't just a history lesson. It's showing issues that are still very much alive today." It sounds like the guys brought a lot of passion to their latest project, and maybe their film will open a few eyes when it hits theaters.

Celebs Can't Contain Their Election Night Excitement

Harvey Weinstein hosted an Election Night Party at Public House in NYC yesterday as everyone got together to watch Barack Obama elected President. James Franco beamed and hugged everyone around him. Jessica Alba posed with Taylor Momsen, who's not old enough to vote but still got in on the excitement. Jessica said of the election, "I think we all have to start to see the change we are waiting for. We need more people that think like him . . . that are, I don't know, thoughtful?" As for Obama's first order of business, "Helping Americans understand that you are part of the world and can't isolate yourself so much." Overall, the mood was one of joy as people cheered out of their windows and cars in celebration.

Milk Comes Home to San Francisco

The Milk premiere brought out Hollywood actors, political figures and the movie's real life inspirations in SF last night. Sean Penn walked the red carpet with Robin by his side but skipped chatting with reporters to greet fans. TR Knight and his boyfriend came to support the film along with the stars of the movie including Josh Brolin, Diego Luna, Alison Pill and happy to return to his home James Franco. Emile Hirsch talked on the red carpet about what made him want to get involved in Milk. He said,

"To me it’s just really an American story. It’s the quintessential principles, it’s what we stand for — equality, democracy, it’s these principles. The film tells the story in a very unlikely way, but it really is what it means to be an American. That’s why this really is the greatest country in the world."

Patriotic sounding Emile wasn't the only one ready to express enthusiasm, everyone else at the premiere from the actors, the historical figures and picketers for no on Prop 8 had a lot to say about the political atmosphere.

Angelina Jolie Suprises A-Listers at Hollywood Film Festival

It was an exciting evening in Hollywood when Angelina Jolie showed up to hand Clint Eastwood the Director of the Year award at the Hollywood Film Festival Awards last night. Actors like Ryan Gosling, James Franco, Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman and so many more dressed up to honor their peers at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The audience was surprised when Angelina strutted out fresh from her recent trip to Afghanistan to speak about Clint. She said:

"There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they'll live up to what we imagine them to be. And Clint Eastwood in person is even better. Clint is what every great director should be. He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere."

Clint returned the compliments as usual talking about Angelina's talent and beauty. With award season still a few months away, this is just a taste of what's to come and which famous faces we should get used to seeing on all the red carpets.

James Franco might have been trying to fit right in with the other Columbia students with his backpack and clipboard, but somehow we have a feeling he still stands out in class. Last week he poked fun at his student/celebrity status on SNL, but it seems like he's pretty devoted to getting that grad school diploma. Meanwhile on the Hollywood side of things — he signed on to star in an Allen Ginsburg biopic and has Nights in Rodanthe in theaters this weekend, though we might pass or wait for the rental on that one.

His comedic performance in Pineapple Express opened to decent reviews, a welcome change of pace for James, who has struggled in his career in the past. In the article, he gets serious about his method acting, his bad reputation, and why everyone just wants to get high with him. Here are highlights:

On making bad movies: “I put a lot of time into it. I wanted to be the best actor that I could be. It’s just sad for me, because I know I worked so hard, and I just feel like in some ways I kind of blew it. It’s just hard to get away from what I see as the stain of these bad movies.”
On why he didn't get along with some of his Freaks and Geeks costars: “I’ll admit I was not a team player. A lot of it, I think, just had to do with being obnoxious when the camera was on someone else. Maybe I’d eat a banana in the background that would take focus away from other actors. I didn’t think about it that way, but now I could say, ‘Look, the scene’s not about me, it’s about them, just chill out, James. Don’t eat a f*cking banana.’”
On how people have responded to Pineapple Express: “Already, I have had people come up to me in cafés and say, ‘Hey, you’re James Franco, right? Hey, I can’t get hold of my guy—do you know where I can buy some good weed?’ Even in class I’ve had someone come up to me and be, ‘Hey! What’s up, man?’ and give me a handshake and palm me a little bag of weed. I haven’t done drugs, I haven’t even smoked pot, since high school.”

Pineapple Express Lights Up NYC

The Pineapple Express pulled up to NYC night for another big red carpet premiere. This time the boys Seth Rogen and James Franco kept it casual and grin-filled for the cameras. As a special treat for us, Lipstick Jungle cutie Robert Buckley came out for the screening — yummy. The movie, which hits theaters today in case you want some midweek laughs, has been getting some pretty good reviews, including from Buzz, who found it to be enjoyable no matter your, uh, mindframe.

It wasn't just the usual crew of Apatow boys at last night's LA premiere of Pineapple Express. Established and legendary Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy came out to support the younger crew of funny kids while fashion icon (and seriously loving it!) Kanye West also made his way to the screening. Of course, the stars of the movies themselves James Franco and Seth Rogen, meandered down the red carpet all cleaned up, handsome and fancy looking. This high (heh) comedy brings the laughs when it hits theaters next Wednesday.

Geeky Fanboys and Girls Enjoy Dreamy Comic-Con Weekend!

Wow could this line up of Comic-Con attendees be any more fun? Talk about a manjoyment fest, yummy. Joshua Jackson missed the TCAs, but made it out to promote Fringe at the convention while J.J. Abrams also rewarded fans of his other show Lost with some of the stars, upcoming show tidbits, and Dharma Initiative-approved gifts. Even better, the lucky audience at the Heroes panel were treated not only to cast members including Milo and Hayden, but the first episode of the new season — check out what lucky Buzz had to say about that! We found out she was hosting the Whitney Art Auction shortly after sadly being crowned the worst dressed at the Costume Gala, but it looks like Ms Bils redeemed herself tonight. It's weird to ever think of the adorable starlet as super sexy but in a dress like that it's hard to avoid. The Whitney Art Party was presented by Max Azria (posing with Bilson) which also explains all the Herve dresses worn last night. James Franco also showed off his cute self on the red carpet. The Guys Sneak on in to the MTV Movie Awards

MTV knows how to keep it casual, so we weren't surprised that the men kept it low-key for the Movie Awards. The boys took the opportunity to ham it up for the cameras — Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stiller, and Jack Black are keeping up their non-stop train promoting Tropic Thunder together, while Will Smith took little man Jaden as his date. The biggest trend for the guys was their desire to be comfortable in their favorite sneakers. We can only applaud them for being able to be cute and comfy at the same time, especially since the women in stilettos probably didn't have the same luxury.

As usual, her hot hot husband Len Wiseman was there to support his wife's big night as was James Franco's sleaze-tastic mustache. Juno's Olivia Thirlby (who was maybe the best part of that movie) was also out to support her new project — I definitely think there are big things coming up for her. Kate may be Ice Queen on the red carpet and goofy open in interviews, but there's something about the fabulous mixture that makes her so endearing, no?

LA is so much more than Disneyland and Hollywood studios. Last night the city of the stars celebrated the opening of The Broad Contemporary Art Museum at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. An A-list crowd including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tony Bennett, Dustin Hoffman and of course The Cruises showed their support. Katie looked beautiful even if we're not loving the scarf while Tom looked perfectly put together in his three piece suit. Christina continued to show off her curves in a bold blue dress while playing it up for the cameras.

Joel Madden kept things rock and roll while Nicole looked elegant, well rested and calm in her soft taupe colored dress. They came to cheer on Grandpa Lionel Richie who was part of the evening's entertainment but they didn't stay long since they went on to Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy party. Musicians, actors and supermodels joined Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton to celebrate the opening of Takashi Murakami's new exhibit in LA. Marc was still rocking the blue hair from Kate Hudson's party on Saturday night, but sadly he left his cheerleader costume at home. Also, debuting a new hair color was Christina Ricci, who lightened up her jet black locks. Bella wants to know which you prefer — light or dark haired Christina? And speaking of hair, isn't Portia looking a little too Rachel Zoe? The busiest man in showbiz, Ryan Seacrest, found time to support Marc and Takashi. In not so shocking news, Kanye West performed at the party...because he will literally perform anywhere these days...someone hire him for a company holiday party please.
