The couple celebrated Thanksgiving with the kids while Reese joined Jake in London. Now that it's time to shop for gifts, we wonder what Ryan thinks about Ava's wish list, which includes a horse. Regardless, we bet these lucky children will have plenty of loved ones to celebrate the holidays with them.

Ryan Phillippe Steps Out With His Karate Kid

Ryan escorted Deacon home from another karate class in LA yesterday with his Sigg water bottle in hand. Deacon's shaping up to be quite the little athlete, though it's no surprise considering how often we see his dad working up a sweat. Next week Deacon will get a break from school and play to celebrate Thanksgiving with Ryan and Abbie, but we're sure he'll be back to karate class and earning those colored belts in no time.

Reese Likes Her Holiday Spirit With a Dash of Country

Reese Witherspoon went casual to take Deacon to the market in LA on Saturday. She's starting to make the rounds promoting Four Christmases, while figuring out how to juggle the holidays with Ryan and their kids. In two recent interviews, Reese's inner country girl shines through as she talks about an odd Christmas gift and how she gets her Walk the Line Oscar into the holiday spirit. Here are some highlights:

On her strangest Christmas present ever: "My dad's a doctor, and his patients used to always send him weird things because we grew up in Tennessee — so it's country. One year they sent a dead squirrel . . . as dinner. So we had it in the freezer for like three years . . . my brother and I were daring each other to touch it for like $10."
On the location of her Oscar: "I keep it in my front den. We like to dress it up for Christmas. We put a little Santa hat on it and scarf because it gets cold."
On going to her Ojai farm post-Christmas: "We feed the chickens and the pigs — I have two pigs, and boy are they really pigs. They just get down in that mud and roll around. I like getting down in there and working in the garden. Oh, I want someone to build me a good chicken coop . . . like a man who can just get down there and build it . . . ooh."

Leave it to Reese to make sure her Oscar stays warm, and as for a helping hand on her farm, we think we know just the muscle man for the job.

Ryan and Deacon Are Ready For an Election Day Spar

Deacon Phillippe looked like he's come a long way in decorating his karate outfit getting dropped off by dad in LA yesterday. The little guy wasn't the only one showing off some decoration — Ryan had yet another hip Obama shirt on to go with his incognito hat. While we know who Ryan is going to be casting his vote for, we'll see if his mini me will be with him in the booth to get into the democratic spirit.

At this point, Jake Gyllenhaal is already back in London filming Prince of Persia but we couldn't help resist posting these adorable photos from this past weekend. Jake was in town to visit with Reese and the duo took Deacon out for their morning coffee the morning after his 5th birthday. We often see Deacon holding hands around town with both of his parents, but there's something so sweet to see him buddying up to Jake and that precious hoodie doesn't hurt the cute factor at all.

Deacon Has Karate on His Birthday and Abbie at Thanksgiving

Ryan Phillippe was back from London yesterday and grabbed coffee before changing into a tank and dropping Deacon off at karate class in LA. Deacon turned five yesterday, but his family is already making plans for the next big holiday. Blue-eyed boy Deacon always seems to be bubbling with personality as he comes up on his fifth birthday later this month. He and Ava are lucky that they have both mom and dad close in LA so they get to spend a lot of time with both parents, though with rumors that Reese is looking for a place in London while Jake is there filming, it might become a little harder. Even so, they always seem to work it out and we love seeing the adorable kids with either parent even if they still make us nostalgic from time to time.

Reese Witherspoon and Deacon wore white well after Labor day shopping in the LA heat in Brentwood yesterday. She had a big smile on her face while Deacon talked away looking adorable as ever holding hands with mom. Reese has been spending lots of time with her kids recently, but still missing from the equation is Jake Gyllenhaal who is overseas filming Prince of Persia. Rumor has it that the geographic separation has been difficult on the relationship and that the two are drifting apart. Long distance relationships are never easy, but at least these two have the resources to visit each other often which hopefully eases the stress until they're back together again.

After a super quick jaunt across the world to visit a muscle-bound Jake Gyllenhaal on set in Morocco, Reese Witherspoon was back in LA with her kids over the weekend. Reese, Ava, Deacon and some friends went on a hike in Temescal Canyon before settling down for a picnic lunch of sandwiches on Saturday. While Reese looked like she was loving the afternoon with her family, even with her man so far away but at least when he's all done he can hopefully ditch the long hair and keep those muscles.

It may not be as educational as visiting the Tate Modern, but Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish brought Ava and Deacon for a different kind of day trip to Magic Mountain in LA yesterday. As usual, Ryan and Abbie put on their hats — though, guess she's not so blond-again after all — to shade them from the sun on the day out with the kiddies. It's sweet to see that the two little ones have been enjoying lots of bonding time with both their parents' new significant others around the world and home in LA. Of course, some rides around on the roller coaster are always a fun bonus.
