Ashlee Simpson gave birth to a baby boy tonight, Bronx Mowgli Wentz, the first child for her and husband Pete Wentz. The couple had a labor false alarm this weekend, but apparently Ash went into labor yesterday. Their spokesperson said, "Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes!" Congratulations to the new family and we can't wait to meet little Bronx Simpson-Wentz and see his two rock star parents in action.

Ashlee Simpson celebrated this weekend with a last minute Winnie the Pooh-themed baby shower at the Hotel Bel-Air on Saturday afternoon. She and Pete were joined by family and friends in what he recently described as the "very end" of her pregnancy and while a trip to Cedars-Sinai was in the cards, it wasn't to welcome the new addition. After the shower, Jessica headed off to dinner with a group including CaCee Cobb and Ken Paves, but unfortunately things got messy on their way out. As they were leaving Madeo after their meal, Ken got hit in the face with a paparazzi camera causing a late night trip to the hospital with Jessica by his side. After a joyful day full of love for Ashlee, hopefully Ken's injury didn't put too much of a damper on things.

Jessica Simpson performed at the LA County Fair on Saturday night and Ashlee brought her baby bump and Pete out to support her chart-topping sister. Jess wore her favorite country girl outfit on stage and then changed into her Cowboys jersey on Sunday when departing LAX with Daisy. Jessica has had a permanent smile on her face lately and she recently talked about the source of her happiness. Here's more:

On her life now: "I've always believed if you stay true to your heart, the choices you make will end up being the right ones. I'm in the most comfortable place I've ever been and the smile on my face couldn't be more genuine."
On negativity: "I've sworn off all the haters. My computer is turned off and I mostly read my fan mail to encourage myself."

Ashlee Checks Up on Her Little Boy

Ashlee Simpson headed to the doctor's office for a checkup yesterday without Pete by her side. After showing off her big bump and talking candidly about her future little one at the VMAs, now it's back to getting ready for baby. She's only got a few more months to go and Pete recently revealed that they're 90 percent sure that they'll be having a little boy! While Pete's friend Tyga said the couple was expecting twins earlier in the weekend, when we talked to him on the VMA red carpet he laughed it off saying, "Oh I did? I said that? I thought I said they were adopting an African kid. That's what I heard." Ash and Pete's rep also denied the rumor. Whether or not Tyga was joking about the twins it's still fun to see Ashlee take her large bump all around town and we're excited to meet the new Simpson-Wentz addition, however many there may be.

The long awaited Britney Spears opening included a pre-taped clip with Jonah Hill before her blink-and-you'll-miss-it intro which was greeted by a touching standing ovation and eventually three moonmen! Host Russell Brand didn't hold back when bashing President Bush, calling Palin a VILF and begging for Obama support. He also mocked the promise ring wearing Jonas Brothers but Jordin Sparks came to their defense and called Brand a slut. Rihanna looked amazingly badass twice —opening the show with "Disturbia" and later doing a duet with T.I. Other performances included Kanye, Christina Aguilera, Pink, the Jonas Brothers and Kid Rock — all of them full of energy and enjoyable. Also, Demi Moore, Lauren Conrad and Michael Phelps presented awards! So much to talk about, what was your favorite part?

The Sexy, Sultry Ladies Heat Up the VMA Red Carpet

The ladies hit the VMAs red carpet and managed to look cool under the blazing LA sun yesterday afternoon and we were there to get a peek at the action. Lindsay Lohan turned heads in her skintight black dress though I spotted her changed into pants and a sexy top when she made her way into the show with Samantha right behind. We didn't get to see Ashlee Simpson on the red carpet, but I did spot her sneaking in the side entrance to the show right after Pete — I will say that baby bump is huge and she is positively glowing. Bar Refaeli looked stunning though was happier to talk to us about her girls' vacation in St Tropez than when a reporter asked her about Leo's whereabouts. Nicky Hilton told us she was excited for the show after deciding last minute to come and wore an Open Ceremony dress while Taylor Swift is just the sweetest thing ever. She's so pretty, poised and polite.

Also on the red carpet were the ladies of The Hills — Lauren Conrad looked great mixing it up from her usual while Heidi was attached to Spencer even when they had to sip champagne waiting to be let in to the packed auditorium. Of course, Heidi and Spencer were happy to talk to the press and Britney was the topic on everyone's mind. They were excited for this to be the best VMAs ever starting with Britney's opening moment. She's been all about the casual wear during her pregnancy, but this weekend she and her growing baby bump will take the stage at the VMAs. Whether or not she'll walk the red carpet with Pete, he's always happy to gush about his expecting wife, which (sorry to say it) comes off a lot better than the other Simpson girl story this week about Jessica's nickname for Tony.

As Ashlee continues her pregnancy, Pete's upcoming role as a dad has given him plenty to smile and gush about. He recently talked about singing the baby lullabies already and getting parenting advice from Joel Madden. He also joked about what sports teams the baby will root for, saying, "If my dad has anything to say about it, I'm sure he will be a Cubs fan. If my friends have anything to say about it, it will probably be a Sox fan. So, knowing me, it will probably come out a mathematician." Whether or not the new Wentz will be a sports fan or a star student, he or she will have some musical genes.

A report claimed Ashlee was so unhappy about her pregnancy weight gain that she bought pairs of size 0 jeans to motivate herself after she has the baby. Ashlee blogged about the rumor, saying weight gain is the "absolute last thing" she's concerned with, she loves her stretchy top maternity jeans, and "my closet full of size 0s are being worn by Pete right now and he looks hot in them." She also called her pregnancy "the most inspiring, emotional, amazing experience of my life." That's the sassy, cute Ashlee we love; plus it sounds like Pete gets a new wardrobe out of the deal.

Ashlee Simpson's Canadian Weekend

Ashlee Simpson left from LAX on Friday and reappeared in Toronto this weekend. The singer was there as the new spokeswoman for a clothing line called Request, where she went to a Zellers store for their re-launch on Saturday. Ash has dabbled in fashion design before, but at the event she talked more about her future plans, and how she feels about her baby's upcoming arrival. Here are some highlights:

On the baby's arrival: "It's going to be very exciting. I think your mother instincts really kick in the day you find out that you're pregnant and for me, it's been a blast preparing for it, getting the nursery ready and all that. So, we're both really looking forward to it."
On her new hobby, knitting: "I really like to do it (knitting) but I always kind of have a hole in it. I don't have anything made yet for my baby but maybe I will."
