The live US sketch show Saturday Night Live constantly gets people talking in America, and the videos often make their way around the world via the internet. Last night Paul Rudd guest-hosted the show, with appearances from Beyonce and a lycra-clad Justin Timberlake — check out this clip!

So what do you think, would a band of British comedians getting together on a weekly basis with a couple of celebrity guests as well as a guest host (a la The Sunday Night Project) be something you would be interested in? And which comedians would you like to see involved? Let me know!

MadTV Ends While SNL Gets Two New Ladies

Good news and sorta sad news. I'll start with the sorta sad: Fox has canceled it's long-running sketch comedy program MadTV, which didn't exactly shock too many people. The folks at Best Week Ever even joked they thought it got canceled four years ago. Snark aside, I still think this holdover from the '90s deserves a (brief) moment of silence.

The good news is that sketch comedy is still thriving over at NBC after a particularly fruitful political season that had many viewers heading back to Saturday Night Live for some comic relief. Now SNL is looking to keep the show on everyone's radar with the addition of two new female cast members: Abby Elliott and Michaela Watkins (pictured).

Elliott is the daughter of comedian Chris Elliott who is a former SNL cast member himself (apparently this is the first multigenerational casting in the show's history). And from the video clips I've seen of her, Elliott is very funny — particularly when doing impersonations. Michaela Watkins has appeared on TV shows including The New Adventures of Old Christine and both ladies have paid their dues on the live sketch comedy circuit. They'll both debut this week!

NBC has canceled Lipstick Jungle and My Own Worst Enemy, and there is still no news on whether they will finish airing the episodes that have already been filmed for either show. — BuzzSugar

Kendra Wilkinson will be yet another guest star on How I Met Your Mother, joining Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, and Kim Kardashian in their January episode. — People

Buzz In: Who's Your Ideal SNL Host?

Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyers recently said his biggest regret about the election-season episodes of SNL was that he didn't get Joe Biden to come on the show. And the more I think about it, the more it really is a shame. Politics aside, Biden's just quippy enough that he could be a fantastic host!

Naturally, that got me thinking about other people I'd love to see host SNL some day. Jenna Fischer comes to mind, as she's got great comedic timing and I'd love to see her star rise further. And those Brooke Shields commercials have reminded me just how funny she can be, so I'd love for her to get a turn on the SNL stage. What about you?

Live From New York — It's John McCain!

With only days to go until election day, John McCain did what he could to get the SNL bump. While Barack Obama paid millions to appear on major networks during primetime last Wednesday, John McCain and Tina Fey, as Sarah Palin of course, opened Saturday Night Live by hosting a QVC sketch. The original maverick pitched pork knives (to cut the pork) and (blank) commemorative plates to help customers remember the 10 joint town-hall debates Barack Obama did not attend.

McCain came back later during Weekend Update, receiving a mixed reaction from the audience. Were the free sketches worth more than the Obama infomercial, or did it all just make a joke of the campaign too close to voting? Check out the shopping channel appearance — there's even a Heidi Montag shout-out, and a surprise guest!

You, Too, Can Pick Up Women Just Like Don Draper

It's been a very Mad Men weekend around here. In addition to the second-season finale on Sunday night, about which I'll have a lot more to say in just a little while, Jon Hamm also stopped by Saturday Night Live for a guest-hosting gig that poked some fun at Mad Men and Hamm's character, Don Draper.

A bunch of Hamm's sketches were funny — I was pretty impressed with him overall — and it was great to see fellow Mad Men actors Elisabeth Moss and John Slattery pop up in one of the scenes. But hands-down, my favorite sketch of the night was "Don Draper's Guide to Picking Up Women," which would probably be a classic even if it weren't possibly Amy Poehler's last SNL appearance ever (congrats to her, by the way).
