Johnny Depp was showing off some quirky outfits both on and off the set of Public Enemies in LA yesterday. When he wasn't on camera, Johnny was clean shaven but showing off that armful of tattoos with one of his standard flannels around his waist. Back into character, he sported a neon tie and gross 'stache — seems a silly departure from the gangster wardrobe we've been getting a few sneak peeks at.

Johnny Depp had his 45th birthday yesterday, but he didn't take a day off to celebrate. Instead, he was back on the set of Public Enemies in Chicago with a gun under his arm and a glare on his face. We're enjoying all the glimpses of cleaned-up Johnny while they last, since he might get back to looking creepy playing a vampire in his rumored next movie with Tim Burton, an adaptation of Dark Shadows.

We've already heard about how gracious he's been with his fans while filming the movie, and this weekend Johnny lovers will be getting a special treat. He'll be joining the likes of some of our favorite celebrities as a presenter at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.

Johnny spent yesterday playing gangster while people patiently waited for him to come out and say hi.
