The new James Bond film,
Quantum of Solace, leaped to box office success in its opening weekend, coming in at No. 1 with an estimated $70.4 million. This was a record breaker, in fact: According to
Variety, it was "the biggest opening ever for a James Bond title and a major victory for a film franchise nearly half a century old."

High School Nude-ical — Hardcore Screw-Up
Parents and their kids in a South Jordan, UT, theater got an eye-full when an R-rated movie called Sex Drive came on instead of High School Musical 3. It appears that managers at the theater made a last-minute decision to move HSM3 to a bigger theater but forgot to switch the movies. Ruh roh.

We knew
High School Musical was a huge television hit but now it's a bona fide silver screen success. The third installment of the perky Disney musical bonanza scored the top spot at the box office over the weekend, earning
an estimated $42 million.
Meanwhile,
Saw V did excellent business over the weekend as well, earning an estimated $30.5 million in the No.
High School Musical 3 hit theaters over the weekend, much to the delight of preteens and Zac Efron fans everywhere.
A lot of you said
you didn't really understand the hype around this big-screen release, but given the movie's vast popularity, I'm still not really convinced. So, it's OK, you can admit it: Have you ever watched one of the High School Musical movies?

Vanessa Hudgens took the opportunity to show everyone her fashion sense while on her worldwide promotion of
High School Musical 3. There's no doubt the young actress exudes a fun attitude on the red carpet. Her variety of frocks ranged from printed maxis to
leg baring hemlines.

There have been changes in the appearances of the
High School Musical cast since the first TV film aired on the Disney Channel in 2006, especially in the case of the gorgeous Zac Efron, now 20, who now walks the red carpet as a bona fide teen idol.
Hundreds of screaming fans agreed that he was looking suavely handsome in London's Leicester Square last night for the
High School Musical 3: Senior Year premiere, alongside his similarly photogenic onscreen and offscreen girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens and their costars Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu.
Love it or hate it, the HSM phenomenon is absolutely enormous, advance ticket sales for this movie in the UK
are above £800,000 and will be close to £1 million by the time the film shows at cinemas on October 22.

I'm all about movies and DVDs this month, as a range of American and British goodies are released. On the big screen I'm looking forward to a comedy and a guilty pleasure, and when it comes to a night in with a good DVD I've got lots to choose from, whether I'm looking for a thriller, a comedy or a big budget film. To find out what I'm excited about, just hit "Start".

Mitch Hewer's new project
Britannia High is starting on ITV very shortly, featuring original music written by Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Guy Chambers and others, as well as appearances from Adam Garcia and Matt Willis as well as members of Girls Aloud and Boyzone. The show is set in a stage school and follows six good-looking teen students as they cope with everything that's thrown their way!
While the images suggest
High School Musical, the trailer has a cleaned-up, abstract
Skins meets The Biz feel to it, although perhaps that's just because of Mitch's dancing — either way I'm looking forward to seeing what the show has to offer.

Made-for-TV-movies get a pretty bad rap, don't they? For many of us, that term makes us think of something completely melodramatic that has to do with modern damsels in distress. Many of them are like the TV version of those hilarious romance novels you see at the grocery store.
