Cinco de Mayo may have left more than a tequila hangover and a fridge full of leftover nachos for one teacher in Idaho. A simple act of confiscating a flag from a student might put him on the receiving end of a lawsuit from the ACLU.
The student in question said he was changing into gym clothes at his high school on Cinco de Mayo and holding the Mexican flag
when his teacher told him, "Give me the flag." The student claims he asked what the problem was, and his teacher said, "'The problem is that we are in the United States and not in Mexico.' He grabbed it from me.

Yesterday
TeamSugar and I hosted a surprise
Cinco de Mayo party here in the Sugar office. In little under 45 minutes, we transformed the conference room into a Mexican fiesta zone. Soft tacos, taquitos, and chips were on the menu.
Delilcious: Cinco de Mayo Snack For Kids
Get in the holiday spirit by making tot-friendly black-bean taquitos with your kids. The recipe has just a handful of ingredients and takes next to no time to make so it's the perfect quick and simple snack. From mixing the sour cream to rolling the tortillas, let your tot take care of those tasks.

If Cinco de Mayo has you yearning for more tropical climes, then scratch that itch with a look through Mexicasa, a coffee-table book that features dreamy retreats of Mexico. Photographer Melba Levick takes stunning pictures of vibrant patios, sparkling pools, and restful bedrooms, while author Gina Hyams tells the story of each inn and hacienda. For instance, the pictures featured below are from El Tamarindo, a resort located on a 2,000-acre nature reserve, and which was designed to blend in with its natural surroundings, with the builders going so far as to bury every electrical wire and water pipe.

Birds love to peek and peck to find their treats so what better way to let them celebrate
today's holiday than with piñatas for our feathered friends. Made of natural, nontoxic, and biodegradable materials, the fun, fruit-filled shapes let animals get a special treat and an educational experience in the process. While
these stimulating toys can be offered year-round (obvs), I gathered some of my fave shapes in a widget below to honor the day – olé.

If you're looking for a unique way to celebrate
Cinco de Mayo, then take a page from TeamSugar's book and host your very own
tequila tasting party. She held one last year, and recommends that we all do the same. — TeamSugar

A couple of weeks ago,
Conde Nast Traveler hosted its
8th Annual Hot List party in New York City. One of the desserts on the menu, which was catered by
Mary Guilani, were these jalapeño brownies. I thought they would make an exceptionally original dessert for
Cinco de Mayo, so I whipped up a batch and brought them to work.
