The show shook things up this time around, leaving behind suburbia for a new life on the Mexican border — not to mention ditching its signature "Little Boxes" theme. Most of my closest friends have pretty traditional nine to five jobs in the finance, education and media worlds. While each of those industries is interesting in its own way, I can't say any of them qualify as particularly unique or shocking. Of course, not everyone earns her or his paycheck from a common profession or industry. Sure, it's glamorized for TV and completely illegal, but Nancy Botwin's new role as a maternity store manager hiding a pot ring on Weeds is the definition of unorthodox. Weeds Just Got a Whole Lot More Smokin' Hot

Let's admit it. We lost some faith in one of our favorite shows last season and even Mary-Kate Olsen couldn't keep us that interested in Weeds. We didn't want to write off the show completely so we hung in there and then BAM! Shirtless Hunter Parrish is the new Summer eye candy we didn't even know was going to qualify as Manjoyment for a long time but he proved us wrong Monday night. Check out just a peek of one of his hot scenes (but oh it gets hotter and cuts off before the best line but you get the point). So are you watching Weeds yet? Time to start!

Showtime Plants More Weeds, Spins Off the L Word
Fresh from TCA: The network is working on a spinoff of The L Word (but wouldn't say which character will be the focus), has ordered two additional seasons of Weeds, will have a documentary show called Lock 'n Load about a gun store in Colorado, and has picked up the Edie Falco series tentatively titled Nurse Jackie.

Weeds is starting its fourth season tonight by burning the show's whole premise to the ground. This is definitely not the same show where latte-sipping Nancy Botwin got into small-time drug slinging to hold on to her lifestyle after her husband's death. All of that is gone now: the luxury, the lattes, and even the relatively innocent Nancy who just happened to get caught up in something way over her head.

I know many of you are just catching up on earlier seasons, so I'll save any discussion of the specifics of season four — I've seen the first two episodes — till after the jump. If you're ready for a few details on the new season, just

Welcome to the Writers' Room, Thanks to the New York Times

Earlier this year, TV writers were in the news like never before — but, unfortunately, that's because they were on strike. So, what's it like when they're working? The New York Times has given us a peek, taking us inside the rooms where the writers come up with the dramatic scenes and witty one-liners that make television so great.

The story goes inside five different writers' rooms. Awesomely, each one belongs to a favorite show of mine: Flight of the Conchords, Weeds, Damages, How I Met Your Mother, and House.

Some fun facts: The Damages room includes a rescued puppy who barks every time a page comes out of the printer. The Mother staff chomps salt-and-vinegar potato chips, while the Weeds room is a sugar-free zone. House writers actually use a whiteboard a la their title character when he's working on a diagnosis, and the Conchords spend a large portion of their day looking up old music videos on YouTube.

I was impressed by the patchwork pattern of colored index cards in the Conchords room that reportedly tracks "every idea [they've] ever had in the last six months," as well as by the fact that Weeds writers aren't allowed to have their cell phones in the room. Overall, it's a cool glimpse into a side of the writing life that we viewers don't get to see very often. Go check it out, and then tell me: What TV show do you imagine has the coolest writers' room? (I've long thought it's probably The Office.)
