Despite some moments that seem a little overwrought, this trailer for
Crossing Over (not to be confused with the TV show about talking to dead people) is one of the most riveting previews I've seen in a while. It looks a bit like Crash (several storylines weaving together in various ways), but with the subject matter being illegal immigration (and what it means to be an American and what's right and what's wrong, etc. etc.).

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and
Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in
What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue.
21
The
box office winner 21 is the kind of movie I'd be happy to come across on basic cable whilst channel surfing.

The premieres, press conferences and parties continued in full force at
Cannes yesterday. Gorgeous
Jim Sturgess promoted his future movie
Heartless with co-star Clemence Poesy at a photocall, and Monica Bellucci and
Jackie Chan were also both out separately during the day promoting their latest projects. As always the evening injected a little more glamour into proceedings, with the
Two Lovers premiere attended by star Gwyneth Paltrow (
on Valentino's arm)
and Diddy.

Well, it looks like
21, the film about MIT students who take Vegas by storm, was a safe bet as it easily won the top spot at the box office. However, the
overall weekend box office total was down 17 percent compared to last year, Variety reports. 21 earned an estimated $23 million, beating
Horton Hears a Who and firmly establishing
Jim Sturgess as a viable leading man.

Well, it turns out
this writer was right: you could absolutely review
21 based on the trailer alone. Having seen previews for this movie (or even having seen a cinematic work put out by Hollywood once or twice), the movie is predictable from start to finish. But you can also probably predict how you'll feel about 21 from the trailer.

The celebrating kept going long after the
premiere of 21 in NYC last night. Kate Bosworth ditched her blazer and got
giggly with her friend Helena Christensen, while Mary-Kate Olsen was looking adorable in her shiny belted jumpsuit. Elle Macpherson was also in the house, celebrating her new gig as as the
next spokesperson for Revlon.

Calvin Klein supported their
newest fabulous jeans model, Kate Bosworth, hosting a premiere of
21 with the Cinema Society in NY last night. Kate looked adorable, as usual, in a more conservative — compared to her
Vegas screening look —
LBD. Maybe Manhattan makes her want to
dress in all black?

ShoWest came to a close last night after days of studios sharing their upcoming movies to theater owners from across the country. The festivities closed with an award ceremony where Kate Bosworth struck a pose in her
much more tame outfit to celebrate
21, which was recognized with a best ensemble cast. Sarah Jessica Parker showed off her Vanguard award and
cited Woody Allen as her inspiration.

ShoWest in Las Vegas is the place to be right now to spot your favourite movie stars. Kevin Spacey obviously jumped on a plane after
this weekend's Olivier Awards to attend the convention's premiere of his new movie
21 with his costars Kate Bosworth and Jim Sturgess. I think Jim's pretty cute, and Kate is always good onscreen, so I'm looking forward to seeing this movie.

Watch out Vegas, some of the world's most famous card counters (at least they play it in the movies!) hit sin city last night. Kate Bosworth
the fashionista did not disappoint with her daring outfit, which she managed to pull off, premiering
21 with her costars. While her boyfriend wasn't by her side, she looks pretty cozy with cutie up-and-comer Jim Sturgess and Kevin Spacey.
