In Asia, Jill Stuart's beauty products have a cult following. Alas, we Americans have only been able to enjoy the fragrance here in the States — until March, when 20 to 30 pieces of the collection launch in America. The 140-piece line, which includes everything from nail polish remover to cleansing oil, hit Japanese shelves in 2005 and has expanded to Taiwan and Hong Kong.

I don't know if 15-year-old Taylor Momsen, of Gossip Girl fame, is really into heavy metal. However, I saw Guns n' Roses (and Metallica) when I was 12 so I was a wee rockin' chick. But she certainly played the part recently in Yves Saint Laurent, black leather, shimmering jewels, and smoky eyes.

Minus the fact that the model (Toni Garrn) is average at best, and I keep staring at the awesome paint background instead of the clothes, I am enamored by Jill Stuart's Fall 2008 ad campaign. It's gritty and messy, yet manages to look polished. Through these ads, the brand has perfected the dichotomy of grit and glamour.

Lohan Replaced by Swank for Jill Stuart? Has Jill Stuart seen more of Lindsay Lohan than she'd like? Last fall, the New York-based designer tapped Lohan to be the face of her brand's first celebrity ad campaign. Now, Stuart is casting her fall '08 campaign, and she has her eyes on Hilary Swank, a somewhat older actress with a decidedly more professional image.

Ruffle me this, ruffle me that. You all went gaga over the frills of Spring last week so I thought we could fast forward this trend. Lately, I've been swayed by tiered ruffles. 
Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker showed off The Great Debaters in NYC last night. Newlyweds Harvey Weinstein and Georgina Chapman were also in the house but there was no sign of Oprah this time around. In the movie, Denzel plays a professor who helps get a debate team started at all-black Wiley College in Texas in 1935 and apparently he was still feeling his character's spirit this week.
