Movie award season kicked off last night in NYC with the 2008 Gotham Awards. We should get used to seeing some of these winners names and some of these familiar faces when the New Year comes along and Award Season really gets rolling, but for now the group took the red carpet to start honoring each other. While Frozen River took home the top honors, Michelle Williams and Penelope Cruz both had reasons to smile.

Last night in Hollywood, Condé Nast brought together music and screen to celebrate at the first ever
Movies Rock event. The red carpet was all about drama from Beyonce's green number which looked like she would waddle rather than strut in to Fergie's sexy lingerie-esque dress. Jennifer Lopez positively glowed (and is sooo big!) while Marc posed with his hand on her belly — protective already of their little one.

Y'know, usually when I think of rock stars, I think of long hair flying around stage. But at tonight's Fashion Rocks event, most of the revelers had their hair pulled up. Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Esposito and Mischa Barton were among the women who went with a messy, imperfect updo—which is exactly the kind of stylish but unfussy look you'd want to wear at a music-meets-fashion event.

The networks have announced
their fall schedules, but which of the series will actually be worth watching? Throughout the summer, as I watch the pilots, I'll be posting
my first impressions. A lot can change before a show makes it to air, so these aren't comprehensive reviews, just quick thoughts on how the shows look now.

This weekend Zooey and Emily Deschanel helped to celebrate the opening of "Victims & Avengers," a photography exhibit focusing on victims of domestic violence. Yeah, the Deschanel girls are pretty artsy. The show's subject sounds intense, but Zooey's mad banjo skills must have lightened up the event.
