Jaden Smith has been following in his father's Hollywood footsteps and is now rumored to be
the new star of a
Karate Kid remake. Will Smith's children have acted in films before, and Jaden costarred with Will in
The Pursuit of Happyness, but this would put him in a lead role. So tell us — do you think Jaden is the next Will Smith?

We all know that Hollywood is extremely remake-happy these days, so I'm not even going to resist
the Karate Kid remake news because it was probably bound to happen, right? Now moving onto the casting: Jaden Smith is first in line to play the lead role, the Kid himself, in a new version of the 1984 pop culture staple. Variety has more info:
The script is being written by Chris Murphy, and the film will shoot next year in Beijing and other cities.

Will Smith brought his kids Jaden and Willow to support their mom Jada at the LA premiere of her Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa yesterday. The happy foursome posed for photos while Ben Stiller and his wife Christine made it a date and left their kids at home. Fergie was also on hand to walk the green carpet, though her big smile may have more to do with her wedding than the movie.

Will Smith celebrated his 40th birthday yesterday watching his son Trey play football in LA with his family and former costar on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Alfonso Ribeiro. Will was in his element playing with his kids and giving tips to Trey while his loved ones surprised him with a
special gift. Another reason for his big grin is that he just signed on
for a prequel to I am Legend about the final days in NYC when the virus started to spread, though rumors of him
playing Captain America are false.

The modern remake of the 1951 sci-fi film
The Day the Earth Stood Still attempts to update the older version, shifting its themes from Cold War political tension and the threat of human violence to the imminence of environmental retaliation from an abused Earth. Keanu Reeves, who plays the protagonist in this new version,
explains:
The first one was borne out of the cold war and nuclear détente. Klaatu came and was saying cease and desist with your violence.

After a trip around the world,
Hancock hit LA last night with a high profile premiere. The Smith family is quite the red carpet pack now,
perfecting the group pose for the camera — Jada was looking especially gorgeous in green — before Will was off to also pose with his costars. The next big movie star (at least in his head) Diddy was there as was Charlize nuzzling up to Stuart and Jason Bateman with his wife.

The
Kit Kittredge train rolled into NYC last night bringing with it some cool faces and big names. Julia Roberts cozied up with the movie's pint sized star Abigail Breslin while the Smith crew posed like rock stars even without Will around. Looks like they learned a thing or two about red carpets from their famous parents.

It was a big family affair in Hollywood at the LA premiere of
Kit Kittredge: An American Girl on Saturday. Abigail Breslin posed with her on-screen parents, Julia Ormond and Chris O'Donnell while Rachel Bilson brought her two adorable little sisters out to see the film. Will Smith's youngest daughter Willow had the support of her whole family for her first big role in a movie that doesn't star her dad.

MTV knows how to keep it casual, so we weren't surprised that the men kept it low-key for the
Movie Awards. The boys took the opportunity to ham it up for the cameras — Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stiller, and Jack Black are keeping up their non-stop train promoting
Tropic Thunder together, while Will Smith took little man Jaden as his date. The biggest trend for the guys was their desire to be comfortable in their favorite sneakers.
