The doctors of Seattle Grace were back to their familiar blue attire to shoot a few scenes for Grey's Anatomy in LA yesterday. Eric Dane and Patrick Dempsey goofed around outside on the patio, though McDreamy didn't seem all that impressed with McSteamy's bulging biceps. The atmosphere must be a lot lighter for Katherine Heigl now, too, since she doesn't have to worry about her character getting killed off by a brain tumor.

Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes said she was surprised but not insulted when Katherine Heigl made her now-infamous comments about withdrawing from the Emmy race — and the reason is pretty intriguing.
"In the back half of the season, Katherine asked me personally to write her light so that she could do her movie," Rhimes told critics during a panel for ABC showrunners at the TCA press tour. She also noted that the way Heigl's storyline with TR Knight, who plays George, played out ended up being lighter than many of Izzie's previous stories.

Private Practice is the spin-off from Grey's Anatomy which centres on Addison and a whole bunch of new characters. All nine episode were shown in the US before Christmas, and a second series is due to air across the Atlantic in the Autumn, but here in the UK we're getting our first taste of the show tonight on Living TV. You guys were pretty excited when series 3 of Grey's came to Channel 5 earlier this year, so tell me: are you excited about Private Practice?

Kevin McKidd, most recently seen on NBC's Journeyman last Fall, is reportedly eyeing a long-term role on Grey's Anatomy. According to Entertainment Weekly, McKidd would play a doctor who comes to Seattle Grace after a stint working in Iraq.

This week, Katherine Heigl once again finds herself in the center of a bit of a controversy because of something she's said about one of her roles. Some folks over at the LA Times' awards blog noticed that Heigl (last year's Emmy champ) wasn't on the list of actresses being considered for this year's awards. In response, she said:
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention.
