Thanks to relatively cheap prices, wireless Internet on board, and an increase in service-frequency, more Americans are hopping on the bus, rather than traveling by plane or car. Over the past year, intercity bus travel (think Greyhound) has increased by 9.8 percent, a growth rate higher than anything seen in the past 40 years. Considering driving a car rules out multitasking, and flying includes long security lines, taking the bus doesn't seem so bad! It also has its green advantages — CO2 emissions dropped by 36,000 tons, and 3.48 million gallons of fuel were conserved in the past year. Earlier this month, I was pleasantly surprised to hear about the opening of the world's first all-organic bar. So when I learned of Loft Liqueurs, the first USDA certified organic liqueur, I had to find out what all the hype was about.

Created by two best friends and San Francisco hospitality veterans to save people from "the bright neon color of your average apple martini," the limoncello-inspired spirits are at the forefront of sustainability and eco-consciousness. In addition to being made with all-natural ingredients, the kosher-certified liqueur is sweetened primarily with agave nectar. The company supports small farms and biodynamic agricultural practices when possible, and uses recycled cases, biodegradable inks, and bamboo-based paper.

In a nutshell, Hand-Me-Downs is a Craigslist for moms where you can buy, sell, give away or donate your "gently used" toys, clothes, car seats, etc. It's shopping (and recycling) made easy for busy moms who not only need new items, but would like to donate or sell them.

Funny, just yesterday, when I was preparing to speak on a panel about sustainable fashion, I was talking about how Target should do an eco line. The fashion gods were listening because I woke up to the news that designer Gregory Rogan is once again teaming up with Target and this time with his Loomstate line.

Launching just before Earth Day, April 19 to be exact, Loomstate for Target line will offer environmentally friendly goods for women and men. That means environmentally sensitive materials like 100 percent certified organic cotton and sustainable fibers like linen and silk. Said items will be priced between $15 and $45.

I snapped up a couple items from Rogan's GO International line for Target, which was also eco-friendly, so I'm expecting the same sensibility: nature-inspired tees, everyday hoodies and relaxed separates. Nice.
