Remember that poll to help America pick a pooch for Barack Obama. Although rescuing is usually a good option, his daughters suffer from allergies, meaning a hypoallergenic dog would do best in this home. The moment we've been hearing about for months is here: Barack Obama will formally accept the nomination for president in front of thousands at Denver's Invesco Field. When Hillary released her votes and Nancy Pelosi moved for a vote to make Barack Obama the nominee, and the arena full of citizens erupted into applause and song, moving as one mass of humanity inspired by the sheer force of democracy. Days after Barack Obama announced his running mate, it started leaking in how slow the much-touted text message announcement actually got to Obama supporters. "Be the first to know!" they crowed. "Sign up for the text message announcing Obama's running mate!"
But CNET reports that the ingenuity of the Obama camp's marketing with the texts was lost: Not only did it take 15 minutes to disseminate the SMS across carriers, but CNN totally stole their thunder by announcing it three hours before Obama's campaign officially did.
So much for being the first to know through the magic of SMS.
