Get ready for another Shakespearean film adaptation
Recent news coming out of the
Cannes Film Festival (courtesy of the UK's Telegraph): there will be a
new big-screen adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear, this time starring Sir Anthony Hopkins, Keira Knightley and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Daddy's Little Girls
Sir Anthony will naturally assume the role of King Lear, while Keira will portray his daughter Cordelia. According to the article, "Gwyneth Paltrow is tipped to take the role of Regan, Lear's treacherous middle daughter.

Angelina Jolie channeled a little bit of her past self at a premiere of
Beowulf last night in London. Only the outfit's a whole lot more new Angelina due to her poppy pin in honor of Remembrance Day. Seriously though, when was the last time she wore leather pants?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt looked typically wax figure-esque out at last night's LA premiere of
Beowulf. Angelina may have been
shy about watching her computer generated body on the big screen, but she was full of smiles on the red carpet keeping herself covered in her coat while Brad opted for his requisite hat. Elsewhere on the red carpet Anthony Hopkins did his best Jack Nicholson impersonation while John Malkovich was generally cool in his yellow/green coat.

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and
Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in
What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to these three creepy thrillers that join the others on video store shelves today,
Wild Hogs also comes out on DVD, as well as David Lynch's
Inland Empire.
Speaking of Comic-Con, apparently there was a screening of 20-minutes from Robert Zemeckis' computer-generated version of the epic tale
Beowulf, starring Angelina Jolie and Anthony Hopkins, among others. MTV's movie blogger
was there, and reported this:
"This is the oldest story in the English language," [Neil] Gaiman told the crowd of press and VIPs. "And it’s told with the most modern technology available," [Roger] Avary finished.

You may have heard about this project of Robert Zemeckis' (
Back to the Future,
Who Framed Roger Rabbit,
Forrest Gump) to turn the epic poem
Beowulf into an animated movie which, it was recently announced,
will be screened in IMAX theaters. The movie's
official website is up and running (though it basically just features dancing flames, dramatic music and a cast list), and now a
Dutch website has posted photos of the posters for the movie, including the one above. The posters aren't groundbreaking, but they have piqued my curiosity in this project.

Charlize looked stunning walking the red carpet in Vegas this weekend at the CineVegas Film Festival. She was at the Palms with Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley where all three were
recognized for their work in film. Anthony was honored with the Marquee Award, Ben received the Vanguard Award and Charlize walked away with the Half-life Award.
