What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to my picks below, you can also bring home the comedy Step Brothers today.

X-Files: I Want to Believe
Rejoice, X-Files fans: The most recent addition to the beloved sci-fi saga has arrived on DVD. The movie didn't receive stellar reviews but I don't think that will matter to those who are looking forward to seeing Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) get back on a case together. This mystery involves a missing FBI agent and a psychic priest (played by Billy Connolly). Amanda Peet also appears in the movie as a young agent.

Special features include audio commentary by show creators/movie collaborators Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz, a special makeup effects featurette, deleted scenes, and a gag reel.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie graced the red carpet in New Orleans last night at a screening of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Brad's passion about this movie seems almost as much about the city and the connection he is quite literally building there as it does the film itself. At the premiere he said, “I'm telling you, [New Orleans] did something else for the film. It suddenly grounded it in a way that wouldn't have worked in other places. You know, there's magic and rhythms to New Orleans, that something mystical could happen here. . . I don't have to speak for New Orleans. New Orleans speaks pretty well for itself as it is." The couple looked spectacular as Brad proudly showed his love for the woman in white and city that have captured his heart.

Oliver will also take some of the magazine's photos, and the premiere issue will feature a question-and-answer session between Jamie and his pal Brad Pitt, who admits that the best meal Angelina Jolie's ever produced in their kitchen is "cereals."

The Jolie-Pitts Return Home to Normalcy in New Orleans

The roving Jolie-Pitts popped up in New Orleans over the weekend with a wave and a smile. Angelina looked gorgeous out toy shopping with Maddox while Brad took his bike for a spin around town. Perhaps mom brought her oldest with her into the world of sales for b-day presents for Pax, who turned 5 on Saturday. Last year at this time the family was also in New Orleans working on Brad's housing project and he recently said that is where they find "a sense of normalcy, if there's such a thing." Maybe they're making a tradition of holidays in Louisiana, but with the frequency at which the Jolie-Pitts travel they'll probably be in 25 other places between now and then.

Mark Owen became a father for the second time yesterday when his partner, Emma Ferguson, gave birth to a girl, who they have named Willow Rose Owen. Willow joins big brother Elwood. Terry Wogan and Aled Jones are releasing a Christmas single with their version of the Bing Crosby and David Bowie classic "Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth". The single will be released on Monday 8 December to help raise money for Children in Need. — PA

On Thursday, the New York Times ran a pretty unflattering piece about Angelina Jolie and her calculating way of leveraging coverage of herself. The article asserts that she struck a deal with People: baby photos in exchange for a $14 million donation to the Jolie-Pitt foundation and a promise of favorable coverage of all of Angelina's charity work around the world. The article also says Angelina got away from unflattering coverage post Brad and Jen's split by taking a trip to Pakistan and making sure the media picked that up instead. It paints her as a conniving manipulator going so far as to set up photo ops playing with Maddox and tip off the paparazzi. There's a lot more in the article as well as denials from Angelina's people and People magazine. She relaxed on a couch to talk about her family and what it was like making Changeling as a mother — she describes being "goofy happy mom" at the end of every day so thankful to know where all of her children were and not to worry about their safety. When it comes to the twins she opened up about traveling this time with just the babies, though she stopped breast feeding a month ago because it was too tricky to manage with twins. As usual she denied knowing anything about all the headlines and the only overlap of fame and family being when "we’re trying to get ready for some event where we have to walk a carpet and somebody gets peed on, and figures, ‘Oh well, I guess we’ll be wearing that this evening!’" At least she admits that she won't dramatically retire instead choosing to slowly disappear to spend more time with her family, which seems to be the only thing that really makes her smile.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt stepped out side-by-side in London today for a Changeling photo call. Angelina opened up a bit about her mother during the press conference, a subject that got her choked up (check out the video after the jump). She said, "She was really sweet and was never angry — she couldn't swear to save her life. But when it came to her kids, she was really fierce and so this is very much her, her story. She was the woman I related to, who had that elegance and strength through just knowing what was right." Angelina also said that there are more kids on the way and that she spent most of the past year "in pajamas and coloring." Things will probably only get busier for the Jolie-Pitts as Brad continues filming Inglorious Bastards and starts promoting The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but so far it looks like he and Angelina are doing a good job meeting up all over the world.
