They came, we saw, they conquered.
The Met's Costume Institute Gala is the Oscars of fashion and we've been having a field day with the celebs and fashion folks who attempted to dress for the theme "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy." There was a lot of eye candy and while we saw some really cool getups, a lot of people played it safe. The ones who did attempt an underlying superhero message weren't voted as favorites, alas, here are the favorites.

Anna Wintour's daughter was fit to be a princess in a voluminous purple organza gown by Nina Ricci at the Met's Costume Institute Gala. I wonder if that guy in the pic (below) was following her around all night helping to adjust her dress — ha. I love the grandiose dress, do you?

Karolina Kurkova channeled Xena Warrior princess in her slinky silver Vera Wang asymmetrical dress. The matching metal cuffs added an extra toughness to the model's Roman-inspired garb — fitted and ready to conquer the red carpet. What do you think?

Looks like Lois Lane stepped out of the shadows and emerged a super fashion icon. We've been trailing Bosworth for a while now, and this varicolored sequin Chanel dress would have been enough but Bosworth pushed the envelope further with her funky Pierre Hardy shoes and
aqua eyes. Is she a winner?

Eva Mendes' asymmetrical aqua Calvin Klein dress stood out in a sea of blacks, but it wasn't my favorite dress on her. Still, it was quite fitting for the fancy gala and I love her chunky white accessories. What's your stance.

Naomi went glam-o-rama last night and it does her body good. If there were ever a superhero of fashion it is future-inspired Thierry Mugler so this star-studded white gown was a fabulous choice. Do you concur?

You didn't think the editor of American Vogue would attend this shindig in something less than spectacular did you. Her futuristic Chanel Haute Couture gown is quite the spectacle — and it even has pockets. Maybe that's where she hides her mysterious fashion powers .

Why did Rachel Bilson decide to hide her petite body in such an overwhelming Calvin Klein turtleneck dress. She has such a cute figure, I wish she showed more of it. And it would have been nice to see her
hair out of her face.

Michelle Monaghan and designer Giles Mendel walked arm in arm, while Michelle showed off her J. Mendel one-shoulder metallic dress. I'm a bit torn about this one; I like the color and leaf detail but the mermaid cut is a bit tired.

I'm a fan of lace, but not when it's overkill. Thandie Newton's Chanel ensemble was definitely eye-catching but it would have been much better without the long lace cardigan. Do you agree.
