Dubai (and most of the Middle Eastern countries) is disgusting in the way they flaunt their wealth. For eg, they keep hosting sport events (and using huge appearance fees to bring the stars in) but no one is ever in the stands

i think some fun things could be done with MK's dress. any ideas where to find something similar? i agree that mischa looks great, but do not understand her reasoning for being there. she hasn't been up to much, giving her time to attend events like this at least

Kind of tacky that these people are living it up in high style in Dubai (a city built on oil profits) while the stock market is struggling, the auto industry in the U.S. is collapsing, people are still fighting across the Gulf in Iraq, and people are losing their homes. They're partying in the MIddle East??? I'm not saying they should be sitting around at home, but they could spend their time more productively and compassionately. I don't expect much of Lohan or those Olsens, but Charlize? I'm a little surprised.

mali you're being a little judgmental. This is the biggest, most expensive hotel in the world. Ofcourse it's going to have a grand opening. Just because some people in parts of the world are struggling doesn't mean everyone else has to give the appearance they are too. Got news for you, even when the economy is good in america, there are people starving in africa. Does that mean we americans should never party? No, no one says that. If I were invited to this extravagant opening I sure as hell would show up too. And you know you would too. So get off your high horse.
