She is the perfect GOP. Not in office 2 years and under investigation:
Palin's term has not been without controversy. A legislative investigation is looking into allegations that Palin fired Alaska's public safety commissioner because he refused to fire the governor's former brother-in-law, a state trooper.
Palin acknowledged that a member of her staff made a call to a trooper in which the staffer suggested he was speaking for the governor.
Palin has admitted that the call could be interpreted as pressure to fire state trooper Mike Wooten, who was locked in a child-custody battle with Palin's sister.

She is in the Pocket of BIG OIL:
Palin has focused on energy and natural resources policy during her short stint in office, and she is known for her support of drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, a position opposed by McCain but supported by many grass-roots Republicans.

If McCain thinks getting a woman to be on the ticket is going to get the women's vote, he needs to think again. He has been voting against women's right consistently!

I think it's a great choice. She is the ONLY candidate in the race with executive experience. It would not be smart to attack with the "lack of experience" card considering the experience of the top of the Democratic ticket. If the Obama campaign wants to get into the "dirt" the McCain camp has plenty of ammunition to fire back - hello Wright, Ayers, Flager...

Associated Press and CNN confirmed the lawsuit by the extras was not directed at Tom and U.A. and its German studio Babelsburg cleaning their own mess. Ofcourse typical media gimmicks to make Cruise headliners just like Tim Gunn and that pornstar from TX changing her name to Katie Holmes to get attention.

Ohana, you are so right! I just hope this woman has the experience she needs, but it's going to take some personal research on my part.

That debate will be interesting, for sure!

I wish people could stop focusing on physical characteristics- Obama is Black! McCain is old! Palin is a woman! Whatever. Let's talk about their positions and the issues that they are interested in. What is their election platform? Surely Americans will see past the physical characteristics and make an informed decision.

Okay - Now I will consider McCain!! Of course, it's still very early. I was so disappointed with Obama's choice with Joe Biden. I've followed him for years and he shows me nothing. Not what I was looking for when I heard the word "change".

I am a life-long democrat and have never considered voting for a republican candidate. My hate for Bush knows no boundaries. But I am overwhelmed (not in a good way) by over-the-top pimping of Obama by celebrities and the media... and the equally over-the-top villifying of McCain. Now there is this immediate vilification of McCain's VP choice. She's just a regular working class woman with kids and a career. I don't know what to think. I don't like this uber-harshness coming from our camp.

the sad facts are this will be a racial election. I overheard docs yesterday said how depressing it will be the White House will be a Black House. Truthfully Im not sure America is ready for a Black President. His Muslim non Christian background does not help.

    OMFG

For the thirty thousandth time in the history of this election, Barack Obama is NOT a Muslim.

(If he was, is that an automatic disqualifier?)

Jude, it shouldn't be unless it is proven that he's a muslim EXTREMIST, which hasn't been proven. Anymore than it should matter that he's black, or that the VP Republican candidate is a woman.

It shouldn't, but again sadly, it probalby will.

    Exactly.

It's just too bad that there are so many people for whom it would be an automatic disqualifier.

i think that it was a VERY smart move for mccain to pick a woman..and i guess that we'll see how it turns out

i would love to see jen on 30 Rock - she's very funny and would fit in well with the cast i think

as for oprah - we all know that she gets emotional for things/people that she supports so this is just on the same track as all that. i think that it's wonderful that she's remained so supportive for the past few months

    happy b-day to MJ - i can't believe that he's 50 already

so will drew kick it off with his role in spamalot? i'm kind of upset that i saw it already with the guy from AI - i love drew and know that he'll do better!

i read the story about DD and i hope that it works out for the best. it's hard to hear that sort of thing from a family guy but they all seem like they will work it out

as for the movie - yea - i knew that Tom would find a solution there. it's not like the studio didn't have insurance on that sort of thing..they aren't dumb!

The more I hear about Palin, the more I like her. I know that people say we should look past the "physical appearance", but being a woman isn't just physical. A woman will often times take a completely different approach to sitautions than a man might. I even considered voting for Hilary several years ago when she talked about running for President. I changed my mind once I got to know her better though. But it was still very tempting to want to have a woman in the white house.

She doesn't have the experience needed to be in the White house. If something were to happen to Mcain I would not want her to lead this country.

Great, she DOES have more experience than Obama, but I don't know that she's got enough to be VP, just like I don't know the he's got enough for the top job.

All the candidates have pros and cons, right now it's a matter of picking the lesser of two evils.

its actually the contrary she does not have any experience, according to yahoo news her biggest accomplishment is a mayor of 9,000 people, she is actually being investigated for something i was walking out the door when that was on the news, let me do some research

No body has enough experience to be President. They get the experience when they get the job.

Unless you are wealthy, I don't even know why it is even up for discussion on voting for John McCain and his posse, no matter who he selected for VP.

I like it that Sara has been selected and I like her beauty and her beauty queen days, but for me that is the end of it.

You have to vote on what a candidate is promising for you, not on whether they are a woman or not, or whether they are black or not.

Look at this economy, where have all of the American jobs gone? The rest of the world seem to hold America (and you) in contempt. A lot of our rights and liberties have eroded under Bush. Do we need anymore arrogant Republicans ruining things for us?

I agree with Hillary Clinton: No way, no how, no McCain.

Her office is being investigated for the firing of a former relative of hers that was on the police force. The chief of police didn't act fast enough in firing him and so HE go fired by her. That is what is being investigated.

The thing is, SHE opened the investigation herself. She basically said "I have nothing to hide, dig away" to clear her name. I think it was the smart thing to do honestly.

And I see her being mayor of 9000 as more experience than Obama for the simple reason that she was elected. She didn't run unopposed. And, unless I'm wrong, Obama was slated to LOSE his senatorial race until his opponent had a sex scandal and dropped out of the running. Obama got it with no fight. I'm not saying that's WRONG, but it does make me wonder.
