Is Meghan Markle Having a Maid of Honor? Nope — and Here's the Simple Reason Why

The countdown to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding is on! As Meghan prepares to officially join the British royal family later this month, she's also prepping every detail of her big day. In addition to finding the perfect wedding dress and wedding bouquet, Meghan has decided to ditch one wedding tradition: she will not be having a maid of honor.

While it was assumed that the 36-year-old former Suits star would select her best friend and stylist, Jessica Mulroney, to be by her side as she exchanges wedding vows with her red-haired prince, a palace spokesman has since squashed those rumors. "She has a very close-knit circle of friends and she didn't want to choose one over another," the spokesperson said on May 4. "All have been actively involved in helping her prepare for the day and will be there in the days beforehand. She's very happy to have their support."

Even though Jessica will not be her maid of honor, it's highly likely that she will still be a bridesmaid. The fashion stylist is part of Meghan's powerful girl squad, which includes tennis player Serena Williams and Quantico actress Priyanka Chopra. Meghan often spent time hanging out with Jessica in between shooting her series in Toronto, and the BFFs have traveled all over the world together. While the royal family has yet to confirm who else will be in the wedding party, it is expected that Harry's nephew and niece, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will have special roles. We can't wait!
