Jared Leto Shares Some "Cat Selfies" From His Met Gala Night in a Choupette Costume

Jared Leto isn't afraid to take risks when it comes to the Met Gala. On Monday, the 51-year-old actor and musician walked the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps in New York City dressed as none other than the late Karl Lagerfeld's cat, Choupette. According to USA Today, Leto declared to photographers on the carpet in French, "C'est moi, Choupette!"

Leto appeared to have the most fun as he struck silly poses on the red carpet and linked up with Lizzo and his "WeCrashed" costar Anne Hathaway. He kept up the antics even after changing out of the full bodysuit and carried around the cat costume head to afterparties. Later, on May 5, Leto shared some more photos of his feline self with other stars on Instagram, writing, "Cat selfies from my camera 📸🐾."

While the 2023 Met Gala paid tribute to the late Lagerfeld (the Chanel fashion designer died at age 85 in February 2019), Choupette was not in attendance for the star-studded event. "A million thanks to all of you my fans, animal lovers & Daddy's admirers. You have all shown the kindest enthusiasm and unconditional support, I say MERCI ! Many people invited me to walk the red carpet of the #METGALA2023 in tribute to Daddy, but we preferred to stay peacefully & cozy at home," Choupette's account announced on Instagram earlier in the day. "We pay tribute to my Daddy every day since his parting and we are very moved to see one more day dedicated to him."

In 2022, Leto showed up to the Met Gala twinning in Gucci with Alessandro Michele, and in 2019, he accessorized his red silk gown with a replica of his own head. Yep, Leto is always full of surprises when it comes to the fashion event.
