Tom Cruise skipped the red carpet (boo — where was Katie?) and despite the latest controversy, he was there to support his fellow actors in the union last night at the 2008 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Tom presented the best ensemble cast to No Country For Old Men. Other big winners included Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, The Sopranos cast and Daniel Day Lewis who had the most heartfelt speech dedicating his award to Heath Ledger who he said was "unique" and "perfect" when referring to his role as Ennis in Brokeback Mountain. The rest of the show was pretty much business as usual and of course water watch for Angelina Jolie. Although there were no major surprises tell Buzz if you agree with the movie and television honorees.

I was so glad that Daniel Day Lewis mentioned Heath Ledger. Nobody else did (except the picture of him during the memorium tribute). And while I realize they didn't want to dwell on a sad subject, it made everyone seem extremely self-absorbed. Daniel Day Lewis is about the only actor today with real class it seems.

Brad looks kinda sloppy compared to all those other neat guys.
Maybe it's the hair. There are some really good looking men
there. You gotta hand it to Tom Cruise, he always looks good.

The best actor of the night speech-wise was Javier Bardem. He did an awesome job in No Country for Old Men and made an excellent speech for Best Supporting Actor. He does not take himself too seriously and seems to be the only person in Hollywood right now that is not totally into themselves. I think Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, and Tom Cruise are my four least favorites in Hollywood. I was waiting for old Tom to start preaching his Scientology crap or drag his robot(aka Katie)onto the stage so they could start their typical make out session. I have been very impressed with Josh Brolin's performance in both American Gangster and No Country... It's nice to hear people being humble for a change and giving thanks instead of the typical snooty acceptance speeches from Clooney, Roberts, and Jolie. I am glad Angelina was snubbed at the Oscars. So over her.

I thought Tom Cruise seemed really curt and almost bothered to be there.

DD Lewis did a great job. I thought his speech didn't dwell, but was really heartfelt. He tied it together nicely too.

SO GLAD Angelina didn't win. I am so over her.

Honestly Carmeloh these awards should have been renamed "Oh my God she is so totally pregnant and i can't believe they kissed in public!!". I think Justjared had an orgasm when he saw those pics of them kissing. i mean jeez Julie Christie won the best actress award but nothing about her zip zero!!!! All we can read about is "that dres".

    I love Daniel.

I'm glad he did and said what he did about Heath, I think it was appropriate and heartfelt.

Tom Cruise looks good? HUH? It has to have been a joke, or at least it was an unintentional joke, but a joke nonetheless. I know that a lot of people love to hate on Brangelina, but I still adore them and their entire family. They seem to be very down to earth and not at all the normal hollywood pretentious snot celebrity sorts.

It's so effing tacky to make out like that in public. She would do the same thing with Billy Bob Thornton on the red carpet. GAG. She needs to stop playing to the cameras. Anyone who says they aren't is delusional.

^ Yeah, and the cameras can't get enough of it! No one asked the cameramen to pan on them all night. Supply and demand! LOL!
