Well there are tons of albums of covers, but it's usually either after an artist is particularly successful, a tribute with tons of different artists performing, or some sort of awareness type thing where money goes to some cause. To have this as your debut album is a bit lame. Tom Waits, however, is not lame at all.

I'm not going to just dismiss her because she's an actress, though. That in itself doesn't mean she sucks. Tons of singers dabble in acting and vice versa, and don't totally suck. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Hmm. I can't picture Scarlett singing, but we'll see.

Scarlett has a pretty good voice in my opinion, kinda jazzy... I heard her cover Summertime on Youtube. But one thing i don't see her doing, is live shows. IDK, i just don't see her as a "performer" u know. I don't think i'd buy a debut cd that mainly consisted of cover songs. Way to establish urself as an "artist" Oh well, only time will tell...

I think this album could work, my husband is always putting on Tom Waits and the songs are good, but his voice can get a little grating.
