Kate Bosworth has always been beautiful, but these days she's just stunning. Now, with her new Calvin Klein ads and the movie 21 with Kevin Spacey about the MIT students who outsmarted Vegas, she's breaking out more than ever. To celebrate, this darling of the fashion industry is lucky enough to grace the February cover of Vogue and pose for some simple yet glamorous photos shot by Mario Testino. Inside the pages, she's equally impressive with her endearing quotes. Here are highlights:
- On Orlando Bloom: "Orlando and I met when we were kids. Blue Crush hadn't come out. Lord of the Rings hadn't come out. ... He was the first big heartbreak. ... First love: You feel like it's the be-all and end-all. ... To put as little pressure on the relationship you're in is very important. I regret that it was too intense for both of us."
- On remaining friends: "The fact that I'm very close with my past relationships is something I pride myself on. My mom is still close to her first husband. It's nice to be able to enjoy someone in a different form."
- On her weight: "Whenever anything happens that's very painful or stressful, we all lose weight — my mother, my aunt, my grandmother. ... I honestly thought something was wrong with me. ... I was concerned for my health and my fans, the public. I would have said, don't look at this as the standard of some kind of beauty and health. [It was] a very dark time in my life."
- On meeting James Rousseau: "I looked like a mess. I always ask him why he didn't turn and walk away. He had no idea who I was. He said, 'You're an actress? You're not Kate Hudson, are you?' It's no secret how much we love Kate and James together around here, and it turns out that there's more to the male model than I thought. He's apparently a budding musician as well, and you must check out his song "To Make You Mine" — it's a very sweet love song...to a girl with unique eyes. I lost so much weight from the stress of my program that even my friends at school started to comment on it. I simply lost my appetite. I even became stressed about why I was losing weight - thus making the problem worse!!! Thank God those days are over because I didn't like what was happening and, try as one might, it's hard to force yourself to eat just to maintain a healthy weight when stress has sapped your appetite.
