I think illegal narcotics means one of the two: 1. Prescription drugs without a valid prescription or 2. Street drugs other than pot. Probably coke, meth or heroin.

Narcotics are a specific type of drug. Scientifically, the term refers to drugs that are derived from opium, but legally, I think they include any hard drugs as narcotics.

Pot and LSD are not considered narcotics.

California law has pretty much announced that it ignores pot possesion, unless the person is doing something else illegal. It isn't worth the State's time to track and prosecute for this drug, especially since it is still legal to have a prescription on a State level. (Federal is illegal).

IMO, whatever the drug was, she would have to be driving VERY poorly in order to be pulled over AND searched. Or if she was smoking in the car and the smell was obvious. You have to do something pretty stupid to get caught with pot in LA.

This does not surprise me at all.
