I chose Owen. Britney has always been desperate for attention, and Anna Nicole was clearly living a dangerous life.

But Owen's behavior never hinted at what he was going through, so I think his story was by far the most surprising.

I know Anna was a mess but I didn't expect her to die so soon after having a baby. Very sad

Sad I agree with. I just didn't find it shocking. I think a lot of the stories linked are sad or surprising, just not shocking.

Alec Baldwin calling his daughter a pig. That was a horrible thing to see.

Yeah, Anna's Death was too sad, I didn't really like her, but the fact that she lost her son, had a baby AND died in such a short period of time, it was too sad.

I think a sudden death, esp. with a newborn baby involved, is much more shocking. Anna Nicole.

At this point Brit's shocking behavior is status quo normal.. but a suicide attempt is shocking in a way no one wants to be shocked. Owen get's my vote..

Getting pregnant is not a shock. Nor is dying, however - given the list, I chose Anna as well. Her death sad of course and the unfortunate circus surrounding it is what was ridiculous (read:shocking).

As for Brit - ever since she married that lad in Vegas - nadda has shocked me about her.
Owen - don't know/didn't follow the story line nor his life enough to find this shocking. Sad yes, but shocking - no. I wish he wasn't on this list.

when Brit cut her hair . .excuse me, shaved her head, i knew that this girl was having some deep-rooted issues. this was more than a rebellious youth.

*Vanesas nude photos, she supposed to be a rolemodel for kids. I dnt think thats how anybody wants there kids to be. But I guess she should get a break it was only that one thing

Owen Wilson's thing came out of the blue so I picked that. Everyone knew Anna Nicole was going to die early because of the drugs and everyone could see a major breakdown with Britney coming. And who cares about pregnancies.

I voted for Britney. Her year shocked me the most, not necessarily her public antics, but the loss of custody of her children to Kevin Federline of all people. Something really must be wrong for that to happen. I can't imagine anything worse than having your kids taken from you!

I think the Spears family in general shocked this year. Britney's head shaving was pretty extreme & now Jamie Lynn being pregnant...

I voted Anna Nicole. Everyone has known between Paris, Brit, Lindsey and nicole, there would be jail, breakdowns, pregnancies and duis...so none of that is really all that shocking. Anna was a mess too, but it was still tragic the way she died.

I voted Anna Nicole too, her son and her passing away was totally unexpected. But overall ,this year, i think i was most shocked by Jamie Lynn's pregnancy. That should be an option on the list.

I woke up one morning, getting ready to check my email and start my school paper when I saw the headline "Ana Nicole's Dead" on yahoo. I was literally in shock not because I worshipped her but because she has such a cute daughter and I felt sorry for her.

Oh and Britney's life was already pre-determined. It was so funny she was on Jay Leno and he said to her just hope you don't end up divored with 2 kids living in a trailer such white trash.

It was a tie between Owen's Suicide Attempt, Britt's headlines, and Paris. But really I'm just over feeling sorry for Britt and Paris is just Paris, she will always be the way she is.... so I had to choose Owen. It really shocked me. I was like crying.
