Tom and Katie Successful Scientology Recruiters?

We were all at a total loss as to how Tom and Katie planned out their wedding guest list. Who knew they were friends with J Lo and Marc, and Jenny and Jim? We're now starting to get answers - apparently Katie and Tom are trying to get the two couples into Scientology. Jennifer may even be finding interest in the controversial religion because she's having difficulty getting pregnant. Page Six reports:

"Jim is taking the introductory and beginner's courses right now," a source told Page Six. Another source notes that Lopez, a close friend of Scientologist Leah Remini, "has started using Scientology phrases and explains the church to people. Leah and Jennifer have been friends for years, and Leah has always talked to her about the church without pressuring her.

"We can see Scientology appealing to Jennifer because, in the early stages, it is a lot of self-help." However, Lopez's husband, Marc Anthony, is a devout Catholic and is probably resistant to Scientology, which believes in space aliens but not a God.

Some observers speculate that Lopez, who has had trouble conceiving in the past, could be leaning to the Scientologists for help in having a baby. Reps for Lopez said, "I have no knowledge of this, but I probably wouldn't have a comment on it if I did." A mouthpiece for Carrey insisted, "He is not taking classes."

    Yes, Isis.

    From ReligionFacts.com:

In Scientology doctrine, Xenu is a galactic ruler who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. These events are known as "Incident II" or "The Wall of Fire," and the traumatic memories associated with them are known as the "R6 implant." Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard detailed the story in Operating Thetan level III in 1967, famously warning that R6 was "calculated to kill (by pneumonia etc) anyone who attempts to solve it." Much controversy between the Church of Scientology and its critics has focused on Xenu. The Church avoids making mention of Xenu in public statements and has gone to considerable effort to maintain the story's confidentiality, including legal action on both copyright and trade secrecy grounds. Critics claim that revealing the story is in the public interest, given the high prices charged for OT III. The Xenu story prompted the use of the volcano as a Scientology symbol.

Here is L. Ron Hubbard's alien theory and basis for Scientology: This is the level of Scientology Travolta and Cruise are aspiring to:

Among these advanced teachings, one episode revealed to those who reach OT level III has been much remarked upon: the story of Xenu and his Galactic Confederacy. Xenu (sometimes Xemu) is introduced as an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. The alien souls continue to do this today, causing a variety of physical ill-effects in modern-day humans. Hubbard called these clustered spirits "Body Thetans," and the advanced levels place considerable emphasis on isolating them and neutralizing their ill effects.[17]

Scientologists have argued that the published accounts of the Xenu story and other colourful teachings are distortions of their practice, presented out of context for the purpose of ridiculing their religion. Journalists and critics of Scientology counter that the Xenu episode is part of a much wider Scientology belief that past lives on other planets are a source of negative influences on the mind and spirit in the present. Some of this has been public knowledge for decades. For instance, Hubbard's 1958 book Have You Lived Before This Life documents past lives described by individual Scientologists during auditing sessions, including some that are reported to antedate what modern astronomy estimates as the age of the universe. Internal Scientology publications are often illustrated with pictures of spaceships and oblique references to catastrophic events that happened "75 million years ago" (i.e., the Xenu incident).[citation needed]

While reliable information about Scientology membership is notoriously elusive, there is little reason to doubt that most practicing Scientologists have not attained a sufficiently high level on "The Bridge" to have learned the details about Xenu and Body Thetans. Therefore, while knowledge of Xenu and Body Thetans is said to be crucial to the highest level church teachings, it cannot be regarded as a core belief of rank-and-file Scientologists.

another scientology factoid: the watchdog group against dangerous cults added scientology to its list... SO, scientologists suid the crap out of the group, until it went bankrupt and now they have purchased the organization and suddenly scientology is no longger on the watch list... hmmmmmmmmmmm

It would be cheaper and as effective if she just bought a bottle of snake oil.

But Jlo seems to defer to her hubby, so I doubt she would join the cult if Marc was displeased.

When I first moved to Los Angeles almost 20 years ago, some Scientologist was selling Dianetics in Westwood, so I bought it, read it, and periodically received phone calls from the Scientology center to come and attend an orientation.

    I went to one.

There are a LOT of people in "the industry" who practice Scientology.

I really looked at them more like "the pod people", because they just seemed so artificial and soulless.
