Should Britney Pay Kevin More Money?

Kevin Federline may be snagging magazine covers, but he's not living the same luxurious lifestyle as when he was Britney's husband. While he no longer receives spousal support, he still gets $15,000 a month in child support. However, that amount was decided back when they shared 50/50 custody. Now that he has primary custody, rumor has it that he will be asking for more from Britney. What do you think — should Kevin get more money?

Rats I haven't studied up on family law, but 15k a month sounds like an awful lot to be spending on children, even if you're related to a pop star. The boys don't have private school tuition yet, I'm assuming Kevin does have childcare, but even that couldn't cost upwards of 15k (including their food, clothing and necessities). Someone else might know better than myself, but do parents who recieve child support have to provide an accounting of it? Does the order come with provisions that the money must be used for the kids? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Kevin taking care of those kids, I'm just wondering what all that money is needed for.

I support Kevin in all this cuz Brit is stupid but I have to say he shouldn't get to greedy.

All I know is I get $385 a month for my son and I make it work so I think $15,000 is plenty adequate!

In other new, I think its crazy how these ppl are following her in target an a bookstore youd think that these stores would assist a little bit in not letting them come inside bc thats crazy! Id be pissed if I had my kids in there and these paps were stampeding around what if they stepped on or kicked a little kid! Id freakin loose it!

I said "maybe". I think the boys should be at the top of Britney's and Kfed's list. He should account for spending and be assured the money is ALL spent on the boys. 15,000 won't pay the bills on K-feds house for a month - let alone provide food, clothing, child care etc. I say make him accountable.

    THANK A VETERAN TODAY!!!!

I say yes. At the rate that she spends money on useless books, slutty expensive clothing and weekly stays in five star hotels, the money is better off to child support.

If she were smart she can request to have a percentage of the money go to a college fund or trust fund and the other percentage for the monthly expenses of the children until the custody is settled.

OK, I just read the comments and maybe since he does have a nanny and a bodyguard, that money makes sense. I don't know. I know that people laugh at the nanny thing but I have four kids, two of the toddlers and it is hard to do it all yourself all the time. My husband travels so it is just me during the week and trust me, it's a full time job on top of my actual full time job!

Yes, he definitely deserves more money. You can't weigh this on a scale of average people. Britney Spears makes nearly $800,000 a month. She can pay for the additional things that's needed for them. Actually, I'd rather Kevin, Sean and Jaden get the money, because at least it's going to something other than Starbucks, wh*retastic clothes, drugs, booze, and her freeloading enablers.

Regardless of how much Britney makes (the point is not her salary, it's how much her children need), I definitely do not think that it requires more than $15,000 per MONTH to keep the children "happy and safe." Celebrity or not, the goal of child support is not to spoil children or acclimate them to a specific lifestyle, and that said, there is no need whatsoever to provide more than $15K per month.

15k sounds like a lot of money to me. I know he has additional expenses to consider, like a nanny and bodyguard, but child support isn't intended to support a lavish lifestyle for the parent. Brit isn't responsible for Kevin's lifestyle, they are getting divorced.

On a side note, I thought child support was determined by your income. I didn't think there was very much room for questions or argument there. Is that just for normal people?

I agree with tiabia. Child support is based on who has the kids more, and it is a percentage of the amount of money the other parent makes. A percentage is a percentage no matter what. The more money a parent makes, the more money should go to the other parent that is taking care of the kids. Yes, it's a large amount of money, but the other end of the spectrum is mothers who don't receive any child support because the dead beat dad doesn't have an income.

She should have thought about all of this before bringing those kids into the world.

Kfed does not need a nanny he has no job I take care of 2 children everyday 24 7 of the same age. its not that hard he can do it himself. now if he were to actually work sure a nanny for the time hes gone. but doesnt he have moochy moochy family that can do that? he doesnt need a house that cost over 3 grand a month and if hes used to being spoiled he needs to get that out of his head.

I think in this case K-Fed cannot use the money for his personal expenses and doesn't plan to due to that they're still in the middle of this custody battle and guaranteed that Sh*it-Brit's attorney will bring it up in court if they suspect he is.

I say no way!!! $15,000 is a lot of money for 2 kids, plus that money should be strictly for those kids not his sorry ass! Brit is crazy and all now but she worked her ass off for the money she has.....I just hope she wakes up and realizes that if she keeps spending it on the most moronic items one day its all going to be gone!
But IM sorry KFed does not deserve any money....those kids on the other hand deserve everything in the world!!!

I know that support is based on your income but there is a soft cap, unless you can provide valid reasons for needing more money, after talking to a friend who does family law, the percentage is MUCH lower than what Kevin is getting, even with Britney's income, so he must have demonstrated the need for more money. Sadly I have no way of knowing how much bodyguards cost.

Ok I've just invested time into finding this stuff out... I need to put that much effort into actual work now!

Yes, he should get more. That is lot of money but if it was the other way around and the woman wanted more no one would say anything and she would get it.

They base it on how much the parent makes so since she makes like $700,000 a months she can afford to give more and take care of her kids.

I know us normal people don't need that kind of money to take care of children but these people are not normal!

Matt Leinart pays $15,000 for one child and P. Diddy pays $21,782 per month. If Kevin was a woman no one would be saying anything. It's a double standard. It's only acceptable for woman to receive support from men ... not the other way around.

Why would Shar give him money? She has custody of her kids, she is not a mental case who needs to have her children taken away. Kevin gives her child support.

Can an anti-Federline, please give me an justifiable reason WHY you don't like him?

You can him a loser, which I don't understand since he's doing is duty as a parent, but he is in essentially the same place as all of these athlete-wives or any spouse of a "rich" person. Earlier this year The New York Giant's Michael Strahan's ex-wife won a divorce settlement of over $15 million. But I guess since she's a woman, it's fine for him to pay.

It's as if you are bashing him because he married Spears...as if you took advantage of her...which is NOT true.

    From Wikipedia:

...Support monies collected are expected to be used for the child's expenses, including food, shelter, clothing and educational needs. They are not meant to function as "spending money" for the child. [31] Courts have held that it is acceptable for child support payments to be used to indirectly benefit the custodial parent. For example, child support monies may be used to heat the child's residence, even if this means that other people also benefit from living in a heated home.[32]...

...Various approaches to calculating the amount of child support award payments exist. Many jurisdictions consider multiple sources of information when determining support, taking into account the income of the parents, the number and ages of children living in the home, basic living expenses and school fees....

...In the United States, the federal government requires all states to have guideline calculations that can be verified and certified. These are usually computer programs based upon certain financial information including, earnings, visitation, taxes, insurance costs, and several other factors...

K-Fed still has to pay Shar Jackson monthly child support for their two kids. Since she is primary custodian, he has to pay her accordingly and her kids do attend an expensive pre-school. Shar is going make sure K-Fed pays for half their children "celebrity lifestyle". K-Fed may have a point about needing more money.

He should get more $$$ as he has them the majority of the time. She can definitely afford it.

Like others have said, if this were a woman who didn't have a regular job asking for more money, there would be no questions asked.

Yes & why not?? If the situation was in reverse, you guys wouldn't second guess it. They had 50/50 custody and he was receiving 15K; now that he has full custody the amount should be re-evaluated. You guys are just focusing on the outside elements (dislike for kevin, etc) too much & the actual amount of money he is receiving. I agree 15K is alot, just like it's alot with all these women receiving that much money+++ in child support from rich men, but the question was should the amount change now that he has full custody. Duh, yes.

I too agree with tiabia, a percentage is a percentage, and I don't think there should be a "maximum payment". KFed is KFed, I don't like him, but he certainly comes off as the more caring parent of the two, and he should be able to keep up his lifestyle even with primary custody of two boys. If he doesn't need all of the money, (I believe he doesn't), he should split the money in
