Hey David, Where's The Fire?

As his wife jetted out of LA yesterday, David Beckham was in a rush of his own. Looks like being sidelined during his Galaxy games hasn't slowed him down too much, although he definitely looks a lot sillier with a Ron Herman shopping bag in hand than a soccer ball at his feet. We hope David was just running late and there wasn't a serious emergency — maybe he was just picking up a surprise for Posh while she's out of town and was trying to keep it secret from the photographers.

I'd just called him on his cell and said he had 5 minutes to get to my house before he lost me forever. Of course he was in a rush.

Maybe he should focus on why he's even here to begin with...soccer...never has there been more hype resulting in nothing...I can play soccer longer then him without getting hurt....yeah, he's sexy and all but I'm over it

I feel that so many more athletes deserve his fame and fortune right now! I just don't understand why these teams keep on paying these athletes who are always hurt and getting older all this money when there are sooo many young and talented kids who will play their ass off and with tons of heart!

Age does not have anything to do with it....a lot of football players make a lot of money regardless the age they have;if they are good at what they do and a club wants them they will pay.

Age has a lot to do with it when it comes to sports Carito! Im not trying to start an argument with you but my point was that teams have this tendency of paying these older players who already have injuries and aren't producing as well as they used to a couple of years ago! Now there are athletes who are getting better with age and well they deserve all the money in the world in my opinion! But they are basically paying David Beckham to ride the bench....that's such a waste of time!

Well I guess if they get hurt is because they played their ass off when they were young too, and most of the football players play with heart young or old. I'm sure none of them like to get injured but that's a risk they have to take and it doesn't make them less.

David Beckham is going to be the equivalent of what Carl Pavano is to the Yankees - a good looking guy that was paid way too much to do nothing more than spend time on the disabled list and rehab.

Carl Pavano signed for 39.95 million in 2004 for four years and has spent about 90% or more of this contract on the disabled list with various injuries from elbow strain requiring Tommy John surgery to broken ribs and bruising his buttocks.

David Beckham signed for 27.5 million in 2007 for five years.

Judging by the way he is running in the photos, he is going to milk his "injury" for all it is worth. It's funny how the injury has prevented him from making personal appearances and throwing out the first pitch at the Toronto Blue Jays game a while back.

I'm not being mean, just stating the obvious.

Not to start an argument but his team's season is pretty much a lost cause at this point. They have to weigh their options: play David with risk of injury again in games that might not mean anything anymore or let him rest up til next season when he'll hopefully be completely healthy (running from the papz might be part of physical therapy Smiling Teams take a risk when signing anyone; they won't release him from the contract because he's worth a gazillion to them injured or not.
