Even The Emmys Have A Few Surprises

The Emmys isn't usually the most thrilling award show, but this year a few surprises made us really take notice. While nobody was shocked to see The Sopranos take home the big prize, we didn't expect the show's cast to get shut out in every other category. 30 Rock definitely caught our attention by snagging the best comedy category, and we were so excited to see America take home an Emmy. The biggest upset of the night had to have been James Spader beating out some of our favorite actors like Masi Oka and James Gandolfini. What was up with that? Check out all of Buzz's polls to cast your opinion about who deserved to win and who was robbed last night and for a complete list of winners click here.

Lots more pics including America Ferrera, Jon Stewart, Jaime Pressly and more if you just read more

I am so happy that America won and Sally Field!

I am very surprised James Gandolfini did not win and the Academy realy should have given it to Hugh Laurie when deciding not to give it to James Gandolfini.

i may be the only one who likes james spader in "Boston Legal". i've only caught that show a few times but he impressed the heck out of me. and he did acknowledge gandolfini in his speech, so he gets a class act award in my book. and i'm so glad 30 Rock won! i just wish ian mckellen had won for best guest star, i love him!

WOW,I'm sorry people posting don't seem to appreciate James Spader as an actor, he has been in TV and film for 25+ years in so many varied roles, "Secretary" anyone? Smiling but whatever, love him on Boston Legal, glad his work was acknowledged.

Spader is AMAZING! Its obvious that the people here who don't understand how he won have never even seen him in it, because there is NO denying that he is more than deserving!

i LOVE james spader. i'm sooo glad gandolfini didn't win. blah, i'm tired of hearing about the sopranos. personally i was rooting for denis leary, but i'm thrilled about spader. i was bummed that steve carell didn't win though Sad and i'm not a katherine heigl fan, so i thought her win was annoying.

oh yeah, woo hoo for terry o'quinn!!!

i could not believe that they just cut away from sally field during her acceptance speech because she was criticizing the war!?! she wasn't using profanity and, whether you agree with her or not, i thought we still had freedom of speech around here... so messed up! whoever made that decision should be fired. the delay for live events on tv was not instituted to censor free speech.

and, yes, james gandolfini and edie falco were robbed --- for the last time Sad

How many times did Edie and James win before? I agree, though, they should have both won for the last time.

    Surprise!!! Kanye's wearing sunglasses!!! LOL...

Anyway, Sally Field should've been given the respect she deserves!!! Everyone does!!! But I'm glad that YOU and I know what she said and we can all agree that freedom of speech isn't really free at all.

    SALLY FIELD FOR PRESIDENT Eye-wink

lily3484...I think she was cut off because fox doesn't want her to polarize their audience...some people are for some against, and once she comes out with a strong opinion either way they may lose some of their audience for next year if the viewers disagree. although...the wards were for tv stuff right? not political?

Sally Field was censored because she said a naughty word, just like Ray Romano. Not because she was criticizing the war.

Why did Ye Ole Fart like Tony Bennett win so much? The emmy voters are so out of touch with that one. I think its because its his last gasp.

No, plenty of people were censored for "naughty" words - she was cut away from and a whole piece of her speech was lost. Coincidence that she was talking about the war? This is fox, of course it wasn't!

You know how Fox is. They can put the most ridiculous shows on TV but they can't let a person give an opinion. Such BS! I want to know exactly what Sally was saying when they censored her.

yeah, it was bullsh*t that they cut away from sally field.

i though masi was nominated in the best supporting actor category, but the blurb up to says james spader beat him. maybe i'm being dumb.
