Nicole and Joel Head to the Vet and Then to Jail... and Then Out of Jail Already

Earlier today the happy expecting parents were seen taking Honey Child and Foxxy Cleopatra to the vet in LA. Then TMZ reports that Nicole has checked into jail to serve her DUI sentence of 4 days. She checked in to Lynwood Jail at 3:15 pm but she was already given credit for one day for the 6 hours she served when she was originally arrested. Word is the jail is so crowded that there is a chance she could be out by tomorrow. Sounds about right since this is the same place that let Paris go early. We hope her baby and those pups are all okay.

UPDATE -She's out of jail already. TMZ reports she spent 35 minutes in a cell but after a total of 82 minutes in Lynwood, Nicole Richie is a free woman.

Her legs still look like sticks here Sad
She needs to gain some more weight (and muscle) in order to support her soon to be growing belly. I can't imagine how that would feel on someone as tiny as her.

Chin up Nicole. You can do this. This will be cake. You can then focus on getting ready to be a mom.

She still looks a little thin but really good. Pregnancy agrees with her.

Wow! And CA wonders why it's legal system is in shambles. That's like a drive-thru jail! Or like that preschool my daughter used to go to. You drive up, they snatch your kid out of your car, you come back, they put said kid back into the car seat. Think Joel did that? "Okay baby, I'll be back in two hours, then we'll goto McDonald's for lunch."

I guess LL was right with her statement that they would not really do anything to her as she is a celebrity - I am so tired of injustice from our legal system to let the pop tarts get away with all kinds of crap - we would not get away so easily that is for sure - I hope the best for Joel and Nicole and the baby -

This girl needs Prison time just like the rest of them. I don't care to hear that overcrowded mess, or she gets credit for time.

And what is going on in California. When someone does a crime they go to jail. They don't get the chance to choose what day they want to CHECK IN...like it's a darn hotel. They won't learn until they serve time. A fancy rehab center doesn't teach them anything. My point....richy lazy rehab won't teach them anything, but HARD TIME will make them at least remember why they're there.

She really could have killed someone.

I have lost total faith in the justice system. I think that the "3 strikes" laws took the "judgement" part out of the judicial system with its blanket sentancing. Now we have people staying too long in jail when they don't need it, and others, like Nicole who should be in jail getting out too early.

    SAD!

Amazing!! What a farce the justice system is in California. I am embarrassed that I live in this state because if you are impoverished and can not afford legal representation then you get the shaft, if you are wealthy and can afford good attorneys you will get off!!!!

Wow, a whole 82 minutes. Ridiculous. I'm so glad that driving drunk the wrong way down a road is taken so seriously. Her and Lindsay, I just shake my head.

Who cares if they let her out....she is less a threat than the murders and rapists they can't find space for. Driving drunk is way down there when it comes to a crowded CA jail.

I think it's pretty obvious by now that sending alcoholics/drug addicts to jail does nothing, except perhaps protecting the public for the 82 minutes they are jail..from that particular individual.

On the whole..it's the PEOPLE who are the problem... not really the prison industry.

I'm not surprised that she's already been released. It's just so pathetic that there are different sets of laws for the rich, the middle class and the poor. It's embarrassing.

Well, I wasn't expecting her to spend the entire time in jail. We have lots of over crowding in jails in America because we lock people up for non-violent crimes. I hope Nicole moves on with her life and put this episode behind her.

what a joke, paris had to be in jail for 23 days for driving on a suspended license and nicole richie drives up an exit ramp under the influence of marijuana and vicodin and serves 82 minutes? Paris' dui charge was even downgraded to a reckless driving charge. So driving on a suspended license stemming from a reckless driving charge deserves more punishment than what nicole did? And that was nicole's second dui, paris didnt even have a record. I like nicole richie much more than paris but thats ridiculous and i really hope that isnt the case for lindsay, who's actions were much worse than either paris or nicole. I hope lindsay has to spend at least a couple FULL days in jail.

hooray for the wonder that is the legal system of California, where you can get multiple DUIs and all that happens is that they scare you a little and then give you a slap on the wrist. Please.
