Rush Limbaugh is an A**hole

Can you believe this? Rush Limbaugh is an a**hole and you all know how much I hate to use bad words. Mocking Michael J. Fox is just wrong in so many ways. I don't care if he has since apologized, the painkilling pill popper should think before he speaks. We know the ad that MJ did is sad to watch but Rush should not have opened his mouth up like he did. Michael J Fox was the original poster boy for my generation. Secret of my Success is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Why would anyone bash someone suffering from such a serious disease as Parkinson's. Here's more:

Michael J. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, appears in a TV ad for a Senate candidate who supports stem-cell research, and the severe shaking and stiffness associated with the disease are evident in his movements. But conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh has accused the actor of exaggerating his symptoms for the camera.

Commenting on Fox's commercial for Missouri Senate challenger Claire McCaskill, Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio program Tuesday, "He is moving around and shaking, and it is purely an act."

Limbaugh later said on the show, "If this was not an act, then I apologize." He also went on to say, however, that Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited.

Fox's rep, John Rogers, called Limbaugh's remarks "shameful," USA Today reports. "It's an appalling, sad statement. Anybody who understands Parkinson's disease knows it's because of the medicine that one experiences" involuntary movements like those Fox shows in the commercial.

You know we like to keep this site friendly but sometimes we need to get nasty when we are upset by what happened.

What an A-hole. I found out about this prior to seeing this post. Still--exploiting his illness? Please. He is raising awareness. Just like Lance Armstrong. Just like Sheryl Crow. Just like all the other celebrities who support Diabetes, and all other illness/conditions. His situation is no different than others, he just wants to raise awareness. Chill out.

I'm glad to see other people were as disgusted with Rush's comments as I was. To even suggest that MJF is faking his symptoms is beyond low....but I guess not all that unexpected from someone like Rush.

My grandmother has Parkinson's Disease, so I know first hand what those movements look like and the facial expressions of someone trying very hard to control those movements even while speaking. Even though I would never deny that MJF is a great actor, there are somethings you just can't fake. This is completely appauling. The only good think that I hope comes out of this is the media attention it will draw and possibly aid Claire McCaskill in getting elected bringing us one step closer in the legalization of Stem Cell research.

Actually since MJF didn't take his Parkisons meds before he testified about it before Congress to make the effects seem worse he opened himself up to a lot of criticism. Not saying that the radio guy had any right to say what he did. But when you pimp out your illness and "cry wolf" you open yourself up for that sort of comment.

And please, this is for celeb gossip -- not political mongering. I go to wonkette for that.

    Thx

Alright- If I could post something on People.com I would- but this will definitely do, what Rush said/meant was that M.J.Fox said in his VERY OWN BOOK that when it comes to pushing his position, before appearances he WILL NOT TAKE HIS MEDICATION, ultimately emphasizing his condition, also what he says against the Republican candidate is not true- he is simply against embryonic testing. It's not a fair representation of the story. JUST FYI.

My grandmother has Parkinson's Disease so I know first hand what it the strained facial expressions look like when someone is trying hard to mask or control these movements. While I would never doubt MJF's acting abilities, this hits too close to home to be acting. The only good that I hope will come of Rush's a**hole move is maybe the media will draw enough attention to get Claire McCaskill some more supporters and aid her in winning the election which would bring us one step closer in the legalization of Stem Cell research.

i just don't understand...did he not think for a single second before he said such an awful thing? did he not research parkinson's disease at all before he decided to open his hate-hole? he's said lots of awful things before but this is one of his worst.

TallTJ - yes, you are correct. MJF does not take his meds before he speaks politically about his disease. However, what difference does that make really? Does Rush think that if MJF is on his meds he is perfectly fine? No, not quite. I read MJF's book too, and there is nothing fine about it.

Not bashing you, just Rush's idiotic reasoning.

Al Franken said it best in his book *Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Idiot.* Unfortunately, he is also very smart and seems to always land on his feet. If only he would use his intelligence for good and not evil.

does it matter if MJF was on his medication or not? he wants to show everyone how horrible parkinson's is. not being on your meds is a good way to do it. it is a very good thing what MJF is doing, he's raising awareness and advocating research for a cure for not only parkinson's disease but all sorts of diseases.

Whether he was exagerating or not it doesnt matter he has this disease and he can live with it and choose to promote people who help fund it any way he sees fit. If someone asked me to appear in an ad sans my fake eye because it would help fund full eyeball transplants BY ALL MEANS ID DO IT! Its my disablilty and if anyone doesnt like it then they can kiss my ass and should go to hell imo for shunning it!

I totally agree bluejeanie. Going off your medication to show the true horror of a disease is commendable, if anything. And its not as if he isn't up front about what he's doing.

Rush is an idiot who loves to get everybody riled up. If I wasn't so mad about this, I wouldn't allow myself to give him the satisfaction.

P.S. Rush claims to have a listening audience of 3 million people. He's probably lieing. But, even if its true, that is a small fraction of right leaning people in this country. Please stop pretending he represents everybody left of center.

As someone who lives with a Parkinson's sufferer (my father) I can tell you that it ABSOLUTELY makes a difference if someone is on their medication or not. Almost all of the visible symptoms can be controlled with medication, and Rush's point is that he is exploiting his illness by appearing without his medication, a point which is validated by DesignRChick's post about crying while watching the video. Yes, Parkinson's is horrible, yes, it is good to raise awareness, but he's using a shock tactic and appealing to emotion rather than reason.

Please note that I am not a Republican, not a fan or Rush's, and am in favor of stem-cell research, the thing that MJF is advocating.
