Oh Hey, There’s a Monster Black Hole 12 Billion Times the Size of the Sun

Some things are hard to visualize. Like a 100 trillion dollars. Or four billion years. Here's another one to add to the list: a black hole 12 billion times the size of the sun. International researchers in China discovered the "monster" black hole and just published the findings in Nature this week.

Imagine 12 billion suns put together. It's six times as large as any black hole previously discovered. You can find it two billion light-years away from our tiny little planet. So what's a black hole anyways? According to NASA, a black hole is "a region of space having a gravitational field so intense that no matter or radiation can escape it." In other words: what comes in never goes out.
