Sugar Bits - Isaiah Washington Gets the Boot!

  • After months of speculation, ABC decided not to renew Isaiah Washington's contract on Grey's. In response Isaiah made this statement: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." We'll actually miss Dr Burke but ABC probably did the right thing to keep the off set drama quieter next season. As for that anger management rehab Isaiah took, looks like he still needs some help- BuzzSugar

butterfly77- go over to buzzsugar's post and you'll see you aren't the only one to miss the Dr. Burke character. addison and him gone leaves a huge gap I think. I hated when ER kept bringing new main characers in- after Noah Wiley left- it was over!

I'm sure everyone knows this, but Isiah is quoting a VERY FAMOUS line from the movie "Network." Whether or not it comes off as funny - that's what he was trying to be.

yes, even hate speech is free speech. however, corporations like ABC have a legal right to ensure that all their employees (such as T.R. Knight and others) have a comfortable work environment. i know that if i had used any kind of slurs against coworkers in any of MY jobs, i would have been fired. isaiah is no different.

I have watched Greys from day one and love the show and loved the character of Dr. Burke.Free speech has different boundaries when you enter into the corporate workplace. Also, it is reading like the altercation between him and PD had more to do with it.

So Addison and Dr. Burke are out. Well then I'm out because they just let go the only two doctors that were sane and not annoying in that show. I think this will be the beginning of the end of Grey's. Oh well I still have Ugly Betty and Survivor to satistfy my Thursday's TV cravings.

I am not surprised he will not be back. I do not like him. He seems to be to be too self impressed too quickly. I know we all make mistakes, but it sounds like he made a few too many with his coworkers. I really enjoy this show, but sometimes the show gets to big too fast and egos go crazy. We've all heard so much about how the different actors think they deserve more money or were upset about who was getting the spin off. They may want to try being grateful they have a job before their ego makes them without one. I love Patrick Dempsey, but he even understands how you can end up out of work for a very long time due to an oversized ego. I hope the rest of the crew chills a bit. I am looking forward to the next season. Hopefully, the show will be able to retain the fans.

I'm glad Dr. Burke's going to be gone because there was no where to go with him in the show now. His relationship with Cristina is over and he didn't get the position as Chief. It only makes sense for him to leave. It would've been too forced if they'd tried to tie him in next season.

that is a famous line from the movie but i dont think IW is trying to be funny. the movie is about a TV network exploiting the mad ravings of a news anchor. so he's making a dig at ABC. too bad he's also making an ass of himself since he's essentially comparing himself to a raving lunatic character.

I used to be a big George fan but yea, he's getting annoying especially since hooking up with Izzie. Maybe I'll feel differently when the show starts again.

They just need to have more Bailey. Love Bailey and Chandra Wilson. Smiling

That's dumb to kick Isaiah off. Grey's isn't making sense, I don't like that they dropped him.

I couldnt watch the show any longer after Isaih said what he said at the Golden Globes. I was ok with getting over it the first time but not after he did that. I know its silly but when actors speak crap that is not on the script or sounds stupid to me, I cant watch them anylonger. Maybe now that he is gone I will go back to watching it.
