It's Official: Rosie Leaving The View

As rumored, this morning Rosie announced that she will be leaving The View. Obviously, Donald has already called into any radio show that will have him and claimed responsibility for her "firing" (though that's not how the girls positioned her departure). Below is the clip of her announcement. It's sweet, and then it gets annoying...and then Rosie plugs her blog...and then she tries to pick food out of Barbara's teeth. Naturally. Here are Rosie and Barbara's official statements:

  • From Rosie: "This has been an amazing experience, and one I wouldn't have traded for the world. Working with Barbara, Joy and Elisabeth has been one of the highlights of my career, but my needs for the future just didn't dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me. To all the viewers out there, I just want to say 'thank you' for opening up your hearts and your homes to me this past year. But you can always find me at rosie.com. Here's hoping there's more confetti for all of us going forward."
  • From Barbara: "I induced Rosie to come back to television on 'The View' even for just one year. She has given the program new vigor, new excitement and wonderful hours of television. I can only be grateful to her for this year. I am very sad that ABC Daytime could not reach an agreement with her for a second year. We will all miss Rosie on 'The View,' and hope she will be back with us often next season. She remains for me a cherished friend and colleague."

As if that's not an exciting enough week on The View, the girls have lined up a doozy of a guest for Friday. Alec Baldwin himself will be coming on the show to discuss "parental alienation." That should be interesting.

I don't watch The View, but I sure am happy she's leaving, I'm sick of hearing about her acting like an a$$. Good riddance.

Hahaha... Elizabeth and the girls totally avoided if they would miss Rosie. Bawbaw is so full of BS you could see it coming out her ears. Still won't get back all the respect she lost from adding her on.

Bye bye, she needs to have her own politically motivated show where she can have all the liberals she wants on there..(not that its bad, I am a liberal but then maybe she will calm down!)

WEE HOOOO!! Yes, this situation warranted that sound bite. Barbara, you have made some pretty rotten decisions in the past. Hiring Rosie was one of them, but atleast you low-balled her to get rid of her!!! YAY!!! Doing a happy dance with Donald.

Molly, I think you mean AleC Baldwin...holy cow, that should be really interesting.

I may be among the few, but I really like Rosie. She's herself and doesn't care what anybody else thinks.

What's Donald's take on this? They should have him on the show to discuss alienating Rosie O'Donnell.

I hope that's the last we're hearing of her... I'm guessing maybe not, but it would be awesome to have her be GONE, for good.

I am very sad about this. I like Rosie and I agree with a lot of her opinions. I am sad to see her and her point of view go. I will not watch the show after she is gone, and will only do so if they replace her with someone who has the exact opposite views of Elizabeth Hasselbeck and her conservative cohorts.

What really makes me sick is that Donald Trump is taking credit for it. I used to love the Apprentice, but after hearing his horrible comments about Rosie's weight and such, I stopped watching and will never give that man another one of my dimes!

While Rosie does need to watch what she says sometimes, I think she is entertaining. Plus, she really has been a humanitarian and philanthropist for a long time so I hope she doesn't go away completely. I am sure ABC is sad to see her go since she helped boost The View's ratings tremendously.

I don't think TV could get rid of her that easily. She makes good TV ratings. I'm all for freedom of speech, but homegirl takes it too far sometimes.

I agree with a few of her views but she misrepresents things and is factual wrong sometimes. It scares me becuase she is driven by so much passion that it clouds her view and she just speaks with realizing she has a lot of people watching her. She needs to be correct if she wants to give news. Banter fine.. but when you say things that are false you need to be corrected. I think that's why she is gone.. they did not want her back. I don't believe that with the ratings they would not accommodate her request!! NO WAY!!

She started the whole thing with Donald. Unlike her tirade against Kelly Ripa, oriental people, and many others, he put his foot down. Never liked him except for that. She deserved it. She has a vile mouth and I wouldn't be surprised that her disgusting display at a recent even was the last straw. She is a fat pig in every sense of the word. Who the heck talks like her? Grabbing her crotch and saying "Eat me" with children in the room? Disgusting and piggish.

And the only conservative on that show is Elizabeth. Rosie just made the others look so conservative because she is a whackjob.

Honestly, I think that show will go back to being a major bore without her! She was the only reason I watched it and I bet next season will be their last. First Meridith Viera gone and now her...the only interesting and fun hosts they've ever had!

The View is not a news show. People seem to forget that. It is an opinion driven show where hot topics are discussed. NO ONE on that show spouts 100% factual information. Dislike Rosie all you want, but don't get mad at her for reporting her opinion... I personally loathe all of the consipracy theory stuff she has been talking lately, but her feud with Donald Trump was hilarious. That a**hat deserved everything he got.

Good riddance ... I stopped watching The View after she started. I agree with Miami Gal, she's disgusting and piggish.

As for Donald, I'm ashamed to say this Rosie thing is about the only thing I agreed with him about ... he's a disgusting pig himself.

Oh, I know it's not a news show, but that is where a lot of women get their info. Kind of like college kids getting their news from the Daily Show. It happens.

I personally LOVED her on that show. Her craziness converted some away from far far left liberalism.

Call Donald what you want, but I'm glad someone gave back the crap she dished out. Like I said, the ONE time I liked him.

It is not a news show.. but when you discuss news you need to be correct. She's so against lying but finds it fine to do so?

while i do not necessarily agree with her all the time and i think she does more harm than good, i cant help but be a little sad by this she was willing to say things to no one else would say
she was willing to be "overly vocal" while others kept their mouth in fear of public backlash or losing their jobs. ho hum the thought police are winning

Rosie started to go off the deep end. She started treating the show like a personal place to spew ONLY her views. No matter what the topic.. she started and finished it!! A little one sided?
