Is Kate a Copycat?

Kate headed out to dinner at the Dorchester in London the other night in her favorite new look - a long skirt. Kate's new Topshop line is days away so of course people are trying to point out the negative. The latest reports are that Kate is being accused of copying her favorite pieces instead of coming up with ones of her own. After checking out the comparisons it's clear that Kate was inspired by her own closet but as FabSugar wisely points out, isn't this what you want from a fashion icon turned celebrity designer?

You aren't alone there Mne Hartt. A lot of people don't (including me). This girl has aged considerably in the past 3 years and her body reminds me of a girl (not a woman but a 12 yearold girl).

I have to say the video that was on here a while back which showed her "at work" with the Topshop designers was a bit of an eye-opener for me and seemed to indicate that her part in the design process involved little more than clearing out her closet and taking it to the designers going "yeah, I like this one... and I really like this one, and I like these only could we make them shorter? Cool"

I guess that's fair enough because after all, what people want most from a Kate Moss fashion line is to be able to dress like Kate Moss without necessarily having her natural ability to throw a look together, but personally I expected more from her. Her private life may be a gi-normous mess but she is undisputedly THE fashion icon of our generation.

The clothes are cute, and I agree with pink_magnetism, the whole reason she did it was so people who want to dress like her can do so. I have to admit, the yellow dress is cute.

The point of a celeb line - for the celeb to use their inspiration and favourites to create fashion pieces.

Heck that's what every fashion line's about.

    Inspiration!

why do I allways see this woman with marlboro lights in their hand: woman need to smoke no more than 3 to five cigs a day to tighten their behind, not a packet or so!

Hate to break it but in most clothing companies, they knock off expensive pieces. This isn't anything new.

Everything is a copy of something. I love that they are copied from her own wardrobe, she is most british girl's fashion icon.

Why do people think she is ugly? Yeah she might lead an unsavoury lifestyle (I wish I had that much fun!) but it's strange to call somebody that beautiful ugly!

"If you want the rainbow you got to take the rain too. You know which "philosopher" said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she's just a big pair of t*ts."

her lifestyle choices aside, she is a fashion icon and if she is going to create a line then it should be on the clothes that made her an icon
slowly but surely they will take them away

    Interesting Kiki tee!

If someone is going to create a fashion line, shouldn't it be something new, and not something that you can get elsewhere? There are a billion things you can do with fabric. To do what has already been done is just redundant...and boring.

I don't think that she is pretty. She has a very symmetrical face and wide set eyes so she photographs well. I think the real secret to her sucess is that in photoshoots, she looks at the camera with intent, not vacancy. But I don't think she is that pretty for everyday purposes.

    RAINBOW CRAYON: DON'T BE FOOLED.

SHE IS VERY VERY GOOD AT BEING PHOTOGRAPHED HIGH - KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN (NO UP NOSTRIL SHOTS) AND NEVER MAKE EYE CONTACT (NO COKE-EYES).

SHE IS AN UNBELIEVABLY HEAVY USER: HIGH EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY.

IF YOU NEED PROOF A QUICK COMPARISON OF UNRETOUCHED CANDID SHOTS FROM THE 90'S AND NOW WILL PROVE IT - THE CARTILAGE IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER NOSE HAS BEEN COMPROMISED - HENCE THE FUNNY CAVED IN DENT THAT WASN'T THERE BEFORE.

Isn't that what you want? People buy celeb-designed clothing to emulate their style.

Kate looks great here: beautiful skin and gorgeous tasteful outfit! No I would not want to live her lifestyle even though sometimes I feel like I get caught up with similar temptations.. I can't wait for her line to debut! She is at a high point in her career. Haters need new hobbies.

I've already been to heaven and after 5 minutes I was like LET'S GO!

So here's how the whole top shop thing actually worked... Kate hired a stylist to come up with looks for the topshop line. In fact she hired my brother. We spent christmas break going through back issues of fashion magazines from teh early-mid 90's and pulled out images of outfits that would be cool now and could be recreated cheaply. Then we gave all those images to Kate who in turn brought them to the topshop people.

i think alot of the line madonna made for h&M looked like stuff madonna wears. Why make a big deal about kates line looking like the clothes she has worn? i think it is great.
