Stars Sing and Cheer For Barack's Big Night

Invesco Field at Mile High was full of excited supporters out to watch Barack Obama's historic speech last night at the finale of the DNC in Denver. As expected, some big names took the stage and their seats as the Democratic presidential candidate accepted the party's nomination and gave his speech — Citizen was there, check out her thoughts on the scene! Obama wasn't the only rock star in the house as John Legend and Sheryl Crow both performed, as did Jennifer Hudson who sang the national anthem. Fergie wore her ridiculous sunglasses, while Jessica Alba and Cash looked proud to be there even if Honor is a bit too young for the actual event. The journey to election day will only get harder from here for Obama, but it looks like his Hollywood fans are ready to do what it takes to lend their support.

To see over 25 more images of celebrities at the convention including will.i.am, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Chevy Chase, Rosario Dawson, Spike Lee, Kerry Washington, and others, just read more.

pink is so right Vespa. Ignore the celebs that are involved. It's hard, I know, but we have to pay attention to the issues.

Exactly megIn! Thus the new avatar. It cut off the part of the picture though that says "Oprah likes him, so I do too!" It's not a good way to elect a president.

Not all democrats are looking at the celebs involved in a campaign to determine our next president, that assumption would be underminding our intelligence.

I personally didnt even watch this yesterday, but read the speech online.

The speech could have been better, the convention seemed like a lot of fun though. Michelle, Malia, and Sasha looked beautiful. I wasn't feeling Stevie Wonder's new song.

Marni, I know not all do, but sadly there are way too many that DO use that as their reasoning.

UNFORTUNATELY, (And this includes me to some extent) our country has become kind of "run" by the celebrities. Just about everything that happens has to have a celebrity comment. Sometimes it's a good thing (9-11, Katrina etc) because it brings it home to everyone, but other times it's the worst possible thing in the world. Most celebrities who claim to be in support of this or that are doing it to better themselves and this comes at the expense of the rest of us. More often than not their reasons are self serving and muddy the waters for what the TRUE issues are. It's sad, but it's the state that we're in right now. I mean, I follow the political issues but when I come across something written by a celebrity, 9 times out of 10 I ignore it because I don't know if it's true or serving the celebrity. If everyone did that all the time, it wouldn't be so concerning to me.

We need a good, solid president that people can trust. I seriously hope that ONE of these candidates can do that, but so far I just don't see it. I will support our president, because he is OUR PRESIDENT, whether he's who I vote for or not, but I hope that he's elected for the right reasons.

I thought the speech was very moving. Didn't like Stevi's new song but loved it when he performed "Signed sealed delivered."

    Mykie, random question..
If Obama wins the election will you assume that he only did so because of his "celebrity connections" or because he is actually worthy of proving his leadership qualities to the majority of the voters?
not meant as an attack, just curious what you would think

I could care less about the celebs, they have a right to be there just as anyone else. I am not sure why anyone would be distracted by this. Nor do I care about who a celeb endorses.
On the flip side, it was an amazing speech and a great way to wrap up what was, imo, an amazing DNC. The most inspired I have seen in years.

this is a moot point...we'll see what happs in November...people don't have to give long reasons for this and that, just vote...I think the world is run by hollywood b/c we've allowed it (buying the rags, sites like this etc etc) so welcome to the monster we've created

Didn't take it that way at all Marni, it's a great question. The answer is I don't honestly know.

It's just like the Bush/Gore win. Did Bush REALLY win, or didn't he? We won't ever REALLY know for sure, as much as so many want to say they DO know, there are facts to support BOTH of them winning.

Same thing here. Just like I don't know for certain that people who vote for McCain are doing it because they think he's better, I won't know that people are voting for barack because of celebrities. The fact is though that it skews things, and doesn't really give a good picture.

and at the end of the day who CARES why SOMEBODY is voting for their choice, it's nobody's business but that voter. The real question that needs to be asked of the self is why you're voting for WHO YOU CHOOSE to vote for (but clearly an answer to be kept to the self). Everything else is of unimportance.

It's one of those things where you almost wish uneducated (on the views and issues) voters would not vote and that people who were educated did vote. But unfortunately, people can and will vote regardless of what the reason is or why they felt it was the best decision. What's even worse, some people might actually not vote for Barack because Fergie was there.
My father is an extreme republican and gets the letters from Bush and everything. He for the first time, is thinking differently about things. Maybe change is what we need. I think to me, if the democratic nominee can make my father think even a little differently, I'm impressed.

I just read the speech and got tears in my eyes 1 time and hair stood up 2 times. And that's just from reading it. Pretty amazing speech.

The more celebs push all this Obamaness on America the silent conservatives will lean on McCain. Hollywood does not rule America but Christians and Evangelicals.
Just because the media shows Obama as the hero does not mean America feels the same way. The media is sooooo onesided lefties but its always a reversal of events.

Yah Marni- I think that there is something big happening. Even if McCain wins, I think that things will be done differently for some reason. But this is the first time that I have been actually interested in knowing all the views and deciding who I agree with more and making my decision off of that rather than just picking the guy running against my dad's choice Laughing out loud
