Christian and Maggie Light Up The Dark Knight in Barcelona

Christian Bale seemed to put his very public recent troubles behind him as he made his way down the red carpet with his wife Sibi at the Barcelona premiere of The Dark Knight yesterday evening. Bale apparently avoided reporters but spent lots of time signing autographs — he even had a bit of a smile on his face. His co-stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart also made the trip over from the UK to attend the Spanish screening. As it gets ready to hit screens overseas, the film continues to smash records. After being out only five days, it just passed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead's Man Chest as the fastest movie to net $200 million. It has also already made more than Batman Begins did in its entire run — pretty incredible.

i'm so glad that the press tour is moving right along, and it's nice to hear that things are still going so well for the movie. we'll have to see how it ends up this weekend as far as $$ - it's impressive that it's made so much already.

I bet Katie Holmes is kicking herself now for not signing up for the sequel! (Maybe she wasn't asked? I don't know)

Christian is so hot. I don't believe he is a bad guy and i am choosing to ignore the BS about his temper. The man is a great actor. Maggie has been looking so good in the red carpet pics but she was so ugly in the movie. I mean she was so ugly in Batman it was insane. :ick: Aaron Eckhart was so hot and I loved him in Batman. He was so amazing as Harvey Dent. I think he and Heath made some of the best villains ever.

Maggie looks kind of bored here. It must be exhausting to do all the press and premieres at this pace.

Good for Christian to be getting out there smiling... The whole thing seems really sad with his Mum and sister.. I hope it can be resolved amicably.

Maggie looks lovely again... I agree that she has a more classic beauty... much more interesting!

I love how Maggie isn't supermodel-gorgeous! It makes a movie seem more real if you're not watching a completely flawless-looking cast. I think she's adorable and real and genuine.

I'm just happy that Christian's family drama is pointing more to his mom and sister being crazy. I chose not to believe it at first, and now I'm just happy we were right.

I am glad they chose Maggie to do the sequel instead of asking Katie to return. Katie Holmes was the only bad part of the last Batman. They all look good!

Ugh I can't stand maggie Gyllenhag. Obviously the looks in THAT family went to her brother. LOL

Something about this girl just irritates me deep in my core. I don't even know why.

But love me some Christian! And I wonder, if Heath hadn't died, would the movie be doing as well? I mean yes, it's a great movie, but in all honesty, it was way too long. I went to see it on Monday, and the first part of it was great, action packed and attention holding. But towards the end, right around the time of the hospital scene, it lost it's momentum and I found myself yawning.

Okay, let the hate mail fly.

It is so wierd how press can influence your projections onto these people. When I first heard about the police report against Christian made by his mother and sister I thought they must be really bad people, but now everytime I see his pictures he just looks so mean and intense in a bad way. You start to believe all the stuff written about him just based on his facial expression.

I didn't mind Maggie being in the film but I swear to god there are some shots and close ups of her face where she just looks awful. She was slouched in one scene where the Joker actually calls her beautiful. Maggie wasn't commanding to me. Usually you want to look at this woman and not tear your eyes from her. I could hardly keep my eyes on the screen when she was on. It didn't seem realistic to me that a sexy DA or whatever Harvey Dent was and a billion, vigilante, Batman, would be in love with such a sloppy, unkempt mess the way Maggie Gyllenhaal played her. Her delivery was not better than Katie Holmes. Maggie also had zero chemistry with either love interest. I didn't buy the romances for a second. I felt more passion and chemistry after a certain point in the film that was about her character but other than that... shrug She was awful.

Bale scares me now.....Maggie is wrong for Bruce Wayne. Katie was a better choice.

LOVE, thank you! I couldn't agree with you more! She didn't compel me. In the first one, I loved Katie's performance. You believed her Angst. I won't spoil the movie for anyone, but one of the last scenes that she's in she doesn't act it well AT ALL. It was like watching a piece of paper.

They all look dull except Aaron who looks like a young Robert Redford. Maggie didnt have any sparkage with the leading man and she totally ruined the character and romance. When you hear people inquiring about Holmes and wanting her back means Gyllenhaal was distracting. Its obvious why Holmes left but also I wont say much because its part of the supposedly shocker of the movie but its predictable if you know the love life of Wayne in the comics.

This whole Bale drama does not surprise me @ all. You hear about his violent outburst on Terminator and during the filming of Batman Begins. Ledger's death no doubt enhanced the film. Remember how John Ritter died and his last eppy was a hit on ABC? Afterwards the whole thing died down and the show was cancelled. It boils down to curiosity from the people. I cant believe Im saying this but Katie even with an afterthought script did a better job than Maggie.
All Maggie has she looks old for a D.A. but Katie is perfect now because she's more of a woman. Maggie was bad for many reasons.
With Katie you buy her as Batman's lady love, the moral compass and his childhood sweetiepie. Katie had good chemistry with Aaron Eckhart on Thank you for Smoking. I forgot they worked on that movie before.

In defense of Gyllenhaal, Maggie may look like a sad turtle but she's still way better casting than Holmes. Katie was bad in Batman Begins. Like spoon-death bad. She just grins her little grimace and plays cute and coy in everything I've seen her in. The main problem I had with Holmes's Rachel is that she just wasn't believably smart. She was cute, but dull, and the idea that she was a hard-working D.A. was ridiculous - the only thing more ridiculous was that someone like Bruce Wayne would be captivated by her. Maggie G. is phenomenally better - completely believable as the smart, driven professional AND as the captivating woman - because being smart and driven is part of what makes her captivating. (Not to even mention Bruce Wayne has been in love with Rachel since childhood so it really wouldn't matter what she looked like if he had been in love with her that long, so I cannot and will not buy that it's just not believable that two powerful and charismatic men could conceivably fall in love with her.)

And for the record I am by no stretch of the imagination a Gyllenhaal fan.

Apart from that the movie was outstanding. Eckhart's slow burn from Dent to Two-Face was captivating and really could've been it's own film. Just something about becoming so beaten down, so broken over trying to do the right thing and constantly losing, that when they abandon all morality to the flip of a coin it makes it particularly chilling. The last scene was amazing to watch. When he put the gun to his own head, you KNEW he was pulling that trigger if that coin came down on the wrong end. You knew it. Heath is everything everybody has been saying. I mean, he makes Hannibal Lecter look like the Energizer Bunny! The character was not merely a lunatic, but articulated a sort-of philosophy of chaos throughout the entire film. Aside from his acting, that's what I thought was brilliant, which is why Christopher Nolan deserves perhaps as much credit for the character as Ledger. It was the combination of terrific writing with terrific acting that made Ledger's Joker so compelling. The character was not merely demented, not merely a homicidal lunatic, but an 'Agent of Chaos'. Just two awesome, awesome villians. (And they were able to juggle them unlike, say, Spiderman 3. Ugh.)

Great movie! Although WTF was up with Batman's ultra raspy voice? He sounded like an emphysema mom.

All right people, some of us haven't seen the movie yet, be careful about what you say because you're getting dangerously close to giving things away!

Maggie looks absolutely gorgeous! And Christian, (sigh) he can do no wrong.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATED Gyllenhag in the movie, and I want Katie back.

She was, in my opinion, perfect in the first movie. Sweet, innocent and extremely strong. She complimented Batman just as Rachel Dawes was supposed to do. In this new one, she wasn't compelling in any way, shape or form.

And I agree with rpenner, don't give too much away because many people haven't seen it. I'm trying very hard not to, but there are times when I want to scream about a certain part because of the acting in it, but I can't! I'll give it a month, then to heck with the rest of you. LMAO

Maggie looks great,I think she's beautiful, but not in a typical super-model way, and that's a good thing.
God bless Christian & his wife, having a mum & sister like that, it's only because they're jealous of his success. Christian can do no wrong in my eyes, no matter what Love Sigh

Maggie's a better actress, but Katie used to be a lot better looking (I'm talking 2007). Oh well I'm only seeing it cause of Heath "R.I.P" Ledger and Christian "Hottness" Bale.

Wade - I think sadly, that's the only reason the movie is getting the hype it is, because it WASN'T as spectacular as they're stating. The stand out role was definitely Heath and you should ABSOLUTELY see it to see his portrayal of this character. Just amazing.

rpenner - If you haven't seen it in a month, I'd doubt I'd be the only one spoiling it for you. LOL

Maggie does look sort of haggard in the movie, she had bags under her eyes throughout the whole thing. I still love her though, there's just something about her that makes her really likable. I too like her dress at this premiere. It suits her nicely. She played Rachel better than Katie Holmes could have, I can't believe Katie got offered that role.

Chrstian and Sibi looks amazing and happy, I really hope that he will be exonerated for these charges because I would like to think that Christian is a good man. On another note, I can't believe the box office records that this movie is setting!
