Ladies Love to Nurse Clooney's Wounded Ego

As much as it breaks our hearts, George Clooney only has eyes for Sarah Larson these days, but that certainly doesn't mean there aren't a whole lot of women willing to give it a try. On Tuesday when he showed up for a shoot for Esquire's upcoming 75th anniversary issue, apparently he had the whole office swooning as he danced with different staffers. From there he continued his tour of NYC with a screening for Leatherheads where he joked about the movie's success, or lack thereof. He said:

"[Leatherheads] bombed and when I say bombed, it bombed. Someone said, 'How does that feel?' and it stings a little bit. It's not like we just showed up: I was working on this for a couple years and put a lot of work into it, and you get knocked back a little bit.

The trick is how you handle things when things don't go great. It's easy when things are doing well. The people I most admire are the people who handle it when the studio says that's really underperformed and they say, 'Ow, that hurt.' I've been a fan of watching people go through cycles, not just winning cycles."

Aw, don't be sad Clooney! While I'm sure it hurt to see his labor of love beaten down at the box office, he's still got a lot of great things going for him. Plus, hearing the most suave star in Hollywood talk about his wounded ego is perhaps the most endearing thing of all.

Awww, poor George. I feel bad for him. But Leatherheads was terrible. Almost painful. I couldn't wait for the movie to end so I could leave.

Oh well. George let his girlfriend kill it. Plus Renee looked very artsy rather than sexy during the promotion which didn't help at all. Artsy is what gets you an Oscar in February not what sells something released in April called "Leatherheads." The movie sucked and didn't make any money, so its a good thing that George and Renee already have some money and that John has "The Office."

Not a fan but he's not the only A lister bombing.
for instance Pitt's last western film,Matt Damon's Good Shephard,Kidman's movies are all flops,Russell Crowe is paid so much but his films are flops but now he's coming back with American Gangster, Tobey Maguire's films outside Spidey are not good,Christian Bale's films outside Batman are not big at the box office, same with the flops of Hugh Jackman and his latest one Deception.

Tom Hanks movies are not big outside Da Vinci Code,or Depp's Sweeney Todd only opening at 6 million compared to Pirates.
Cruise Lions for lambs was not so huge but all anti war films are boycotted by Americans. Charlize Theron,Hilary Swank films dont open big. Same with the movies of Eric Bana and Scarlett J.

Im already banking let Downey Jr. do a serious movie and it wont fly compared to blockbuster Iron Man.
Look at the flops lately of Reese Witherspoon.

Polynesian - good points. I had no desire to see Leatherheads, and after reading these lame reviews I'm glad I didn't go!

    Hey Poynesian, interesting remark!
Why is it that all these movies with A-listers don't do as well as expected? I must say that some actors have been in so many movies over the last decade that I, personally, get a little tired of seeing them on the silver screen. While I would never get tired of seeing GEORGE(!) I admit that I didn't see some movies mainly cause I lost interest in seeing these actors in the same type of roles over & over again.
I think people are ready for change in all sectors of society, even movies. Maybe that's why movies with actors like Ryan Gosling/ Rachel Mcadams/ Anne Hathaway etc. tend to do much better than expected. People are ready to see some new faces!!

That is a really interesting point-

I just kinda forgot there was a movie that they were talking about, I just thought it was George and Renee touring the globe in great outfits.

Mean Girls in DVD's will beat out both Grease movies. Great thing. Got to get out of the twentieth century. please. Clooney has a famous mother Rosemary Clooney, but still we have to get the 21st century technology going and I am teen girl from the seventies and I will not be stuck in the old day mold.
