Justin Donates to Keep the Memphis Music Alive

Justin Timberlake is ever moving on up in the entertainment world and busy shooting his new movie The Open Road in his hometown, but he'll never forget where he came from. On Thursday, Justin donated $100,000 each to the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum and the Memphis Music Foundation. He said, "Music education and keeping the legacy of Memphis Music alive has always been important to me ... That is why I will always continue to support my home town the same way they have always supported me." I admit that sometimes JT's ego gets in the way for me, but when he acts like a sweet guy who remembers his home it's pretty heart-meltingly cute.

I think it's more to bring attention to the charity, than to bring attention to himself, but that's my take on it. I think it's good that he's donating money and I'm sure they would love it if he could donate some time too....

I mean, I guess maybe that is the case...but then couldnt he just have done an interview and talked about it? Instead of holding up a big cardboard sign with how much money he donated? It just seems so pompous to me..

Tax write-off, publicity stunt - call it whatever you want.
To the cynical few making the expected negative comments, let's talk bottom line, shall we.
It doesn't matter WHY he's donating the money, that very fact that he is making a donation at all is greatly beneficial to the foundation. The foundation benefits from the money he's donating & from the attention his celebrity brings to it. That's ALL that really matters.

Good for him and good for the foundation.

Why do celebrities act as if they don't know the RIGHT organizations to donate to? The people in New Orleans are still struggling, and the desaster was NOT their fault.

People, don't say negative things. Intention is what matters. Donating money is not an obligation, and no matter how much he donated. That was a good action.
