Maggie's Baby Burden

Maggie and Peter were at a Premiere Magazine party where she was honored for her work in Sherrybaby as one of 24 Industry greats of 2006. Maggie's also up for a Golden Globe for Sherrybaby. It was certainly a big year for the actress who just had her first baby as well. Unfortunately, ever since she became pregnant, her life has changed dramatically. Here's more:

I used to be left alone, but with my pregnancy it changed, with something about the climate of the world and all the tabloid magazines it's changed, and also with Ramona being born it changed.

And I have to say, I was horrified by the way the paparazzi dealt with us when she was born. When I was in transition labor going to the hospital, there were 30 photographers outside of our house.

We had a reporter buzz our buzzer over and over again for an hour when she was 5 days old. They called the fire department, twice, to try to get us out of our building.

It's got to be hard going from complete anonymity to having photographers following you and your baby everywhere you go. As if being a new mom isn't challenging enough - who could imagine the burden of having to deal with photographers. Fame doesn't always seem to be that great when you hear stories like that. For more pics of Maggie and her fiance Peter, just read more

Wow...the pap can be out-of-control. I couldn't imagine being a sleep-deprived mother of a 5 day old, still recovering from the labor and delivery and being hounded by a constantly ringing bell and fake fire drills.

How is this not considered stalking or harassment? I can't believe they would be that rude to a mother and her new born.

I did notice that as soon as we heard she was pregnant, all of a sudden she was everywhere.

I would sue the sh*t out of whomever did all that for harrasment. & I bet they could get in trouble w/ the cops for falsely reporting a fire. I'd do everything I could to nail those f*ckers to the wall.

That's rotten. Here's a well-known celeb couple who actually AVOID publicity. And isn't calling in a false fire alarm illegal?

That is disgusting! Can you imagene rocking the baby to sleep for an hour, only to have her be awakened again by a false fire alarm? That would make anyone angry!

That is out of control. I know that some don't like it when they see pics in public with their kids, but that is tolerable. This not healthy for a new family. Like Pop says, it's hard enough to be a mommy without people bothering you every second.

    She looks good here.

i love maggie, she's so real.

about the paps, though: my bf and i had this long discussion about how he thinks that me reading websites like this fuel the need/want/demand for the paparazzi to do things like harrassing celebrities. even if the websites that i read don't use agencies that do that or pictures that were obtained in that way, the mere fact that i'm clicking on "gossip" sites and consuming pictures of celebrities means that the demand for the paparazzi goes up. i have to say, he makes a good point and i had a difficult time defending my addiction.

    Maggie is my girl crush!
Well, her and Angelina of course.

I just think it is terrible that she never asks for that kind of attention in any way shape or form and they pester her so much. While she is an amazing actress it is not like she is insanely popular, I don't get why they're so on top of her. That all seemed to happen when she was on the cover of Marie Claire. I suppose that only 50 pap can be on Paris at one time though.

I think that reading these sites is better then buying the magazines or reading something like people.com

shut yer yap, hire a nanny and go out alone like katie does. i really don't feel bad for these rich b*tches at all. they're FAMOUS- that's what comes with it. plenty of famous have found ways to deal with that sh*t- it's called move to the middle of nowhere - not LA or NYC. i don't doubt any of these schmucks would give me all their cash in exchange for having my paparazzi free life. get off your cross, build a bridge, and GET OVER IT!

Because they act and do something that they love they shouldn't also be allowed to enjoy a normal life?
They should have to hire someone to take care of their child or take them to the park just because they've been in movies?

I am not talking about Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan or any other attention craving star but Maggie Gyllenhaal .. c'mon!

sioux, if the pics of katie holmes that i see reflect the time she spends on different activities accurately, then she is probably the most neglectful mother ever.

if you're going to not spend time with your kids doing normal stuff, don't have kids. not just celebs. park avenue moms are INFAMOUS for being incredibly hands off, leaving the nanny to take the kids to the park to get some sun and what not. why bother having children if you're not going to be there? it's silly. it's essentially like being a deadbeat dad.

But this is being harassed by someone contantly ringing their doorbell & calling in fake fire alarms to the fire department. It's different to having their picture taken when out in public.
